I think that’s the case with most pets. Ours have certainly never missed a meal or their daily treats. They prefer Temptations, but I think those are sometimes too “rich” for their bellies and tend to set them off.
We’ve never owned a cat that didn’t yak something up at least a couple of times a month. Our entire first floor is hardwood with a couple of area rugs.
Nine out of ten times they’ll hit the rugs and not only that, but the lightest coloured part of the rugs. Or they’ll do it on the carpeted stairs or second floor.
The hardwood, basement and even the wood stairs leading to the basement are quick, easy and non-staining clean-ups. The carpeting - not so much.
The worst is rolling over in bed into a cold, wet pile of goo, which has happened more than a few times in our nearly three decades together.
GO DODGERS!!!

My little buddy just puked. That can sometimes come out like a loose hose. This time I gently held him in place by the back of his neck. I steered him towards my favorite blanket. There is the obligatory second puke. I held him in place for that too. I can always wash the blanket.
This reminds me though of the best pet I ever had. In 2003 I was told my 14 year old cat Glory had terminal lymphoma. I wish I had that diagnosis confirmed by a second vet. That clinic was crooked & I had her put down on their word. Well, their word was she's terminal. Then I said euthanize her. They argued she was treatable. Their treatments were once a month chemos for $1,000 a pop. Then I would feed her through an eye dropper. That seemed cruel & selfish.
I'll take Sly to a another vet early next month. But I've learned to straddle the line. Sly loves Sleet so much. What will the quality of his life be if we let whatever run it's course? He's just such a nice little guy. He'll be 17 on May 25th. I'm sure he'll make it there too.

Our eldest has had the juju the last few days and has acked a little each day. She’s only 10 or 11 and just lets it fly wherever she happens to be at the time. Which is usually on the steps going up to our second floor, which, of course is carpet & light tan in colour. Or on the area rugs we have over the hardwood in the dining & great rooms. They are multi-colours of browns & greys with light tan as well. She hits the light tan 9 times out of ten. Wife has decided it’s the food and switched back to Cat Chow this week. We’ll see if that does the trick - it usually does. GO DODGERS!!!

I've started giving them a secondary small meal during the day. It's more for Sly than for Sleet. Sly is skinny. Now Sleet thinks she can force the secondary meal into eating canned food whenever she wants by crying. Nope. You eat when I say you eat. Truthfully, you could stand to lose a little weight. Porker.

Unbelievable. I was holding a bag of chips & Sly started to wretch. I watched as he ran across the couch to an area not covered by a sheet. For the love of GOD, Sly! Then he ran across to the other side & found about two square inches where the couch wasn't covered by the sheet & yacked there too. Are you kidding?

My neighbor got a new cat. She always cracks me up by putting her cats on a string.
"Hello. Who are you & who do you belong to? Oh. A string."

Sly shit in his litter box & peed on the bathroom floor, after drinking out of the toilet. God bless the senile little feller. I have this plastic hamper lid on the floor by the toilet where I keep toilet paper. To keep it off the floor. Luckily it was empty when he took a whiz. His aim was very good. That's a plus. All I had to do was lift it up, empty it in the toilet & then rinse it off.
I took Sly outside after that. It was like 60 degrees here. I fed them first. Sleet followed her hero.

Should I drug my cat? I seriously don't know what else to do.
If he's in, he pisses on the floor & throws up on the carpet. If he's outside, where Sleet, his food & water are, he wails to get back in. That welfare momma next-door has probably already complained about him. He's LOUD.
(A funny aside to the welfare queen was her wearing a neck brace this morning. Said she had been rear-ended by no less than six cars. I just nodded my head & thought - "You're good.").
Any help would be appreciated. I'm really thinking he might have to be tranquilized.

Not sure why Sly isn’t using the litter box - we’ve never had that problem with any of our cats, with the exception of a few “accidents” where they have sprayed after getting frightened (usually by the other cat jumping on them when they were sound asleep). The throwing up is pretty common, though as one or the other of them barfs at least once a week. And even though our entire first floor is hardwood, they both not only seem to prefer doing so on one of the two area rugs, but they also both seem to find the lighter shaded areas of the rugs. Either that, or they run upstairs and hit the carpeting there. Your vet might be of assistance - ours usually is. But getting cats to take drugs (pills or drops) is challenging at best and dangerous at worst, especially those claws and teeth. Your neighbor is probably full of shit. I was in a chain reaction accident once and after getting rear ended by a van behind me, I was knocked into the car in front of me and that was it. Two more vehicles behind the van hit, but neither of them impacted or knocked the van into me a second or third time. She sounds like a real piece of work and looking for a big payday. I’m sure she’ll hire one of those TV lawyers who’ll probably get her to settle for whatever amount they can get with the least amount of work they can get by with. And then they’ll take 40 - 50% of her settlement. GO DODGERS!!!

Winter is here & my cats are back inside. Sly surprises me by how healthy he looks. He must be up to at least 16 pounds. Sleet slept on me the other night. Sly is still senile. He's a nice little guy though. He's laying across my feet right now. I'm watching Carole King getting inducted into the rock & roll hall of fame.

Before I moved out of Idaho to move to Mesa, Arizona a year and a half ago, I had to leave my cat at the animal shelter. As upset as I was about that, it really was the right thing to do. If I'd tried to take him with me, he'd be yowling nonstop in the cage (he wouldn't let me give him a sedative), and all nite at the motel in Utah after the first day's travel and he'd fight me to get him back in the cage. When I finally arrived in Mesa, the first chance he'd get he'd bolt out the door and he'd become a feral cat and I'd never see him again and I"d be so much more depressed than I was. The folks at the shelter assured me that a lady was coming the next day looking for a cat so I know he'd be in a good home. I hope he's happy.

Ours both yowl like that every time my wife puts them in their carriers for their annual trip to the vet. We’re looking to move to FL in a couple of years, so that trip down should be fun for her (I’ll either be driving the U-Haul or my Hog, so I won’t have to hear them). Ours are both strictly “indoor” kitties, although we do have an enclosed deck where they can sit in the screened windows and aggravate the neighbors dogs as well as scope out birds, bunnies & squirrels they’ll never get to. We’re already prepared to have our balcony at the condo we buy “enclosed” so they’re unable to “escape”. The complex we’re looking at is only six stories and while we’re committed to a top floor unit and don’t think either would try to make a leap that high, neither one of them is very bright so you never know. 😄 GO DODGERS!!!
