Sly's disorientation is disturbing. It takes forever to get his attention, leading to scary thoughts of him being dead. When he finally looks up he doesn't know where the voice is coming from. He doesn't walk anymore. He staggers.
Mom was on a lot of morphine towards the end. She had a hysterectomy in her forties. Then muggers ran her over with their car in her late fifties. The loss of estrogen from the hysterectomy, combined with all the broken bones from being run over, left her in constant pain. I might have to do something similar with Sly to keep him comfortable.

This does not sound good. I wonder if maybe he had a mild stroke? Our first Siamese was the same way after she had hers - very disoriented and walking almost sideways. It broke my heart to hear her falling down the basement stairs to get to her litter box but it happened so fast and before we had taken her to the vet that we didn’t have a chance to bring one of the boxes up for her to use. Might be the drugs as well. Maybe his age and system are taking a little time to get used to them before they can help him recover. I hope the big guy isn’t hurting. GO DODGERS!!!

He's taken to laying in a neighbors yard. The wall's height varies on where you are. I'm 5'-9" & it's almost my height where Sly lays. So I have to call him from 15-20 feet away. He just lays there. Maybe I'll move to where he is & rattle a plate of food around to get his attention. Then he gradually staggers to where the wall is only about 3.5 feet. He climbs that wall & sort of sways to where the dish is. I overslept a bit this morning & was pleasantly surprised he was waiting at the door for breakfast. Him & Sleet. So his appetite was there. He ate a lot of salmon for lunch yesterday. He peed on the concrete too.

My neighbors are very nice. We ran into each other as a woman was taking a bowl of milk to Sly. I handed her a plate of steroid laced salmon too. She asked if he was sick. I said he was 16.
It's good to know people care.

That's it. Sly has a unique concept of communism. I let him in & went outside myself to water the garden. I came back in & the odor hit me immediately. He had shit on the bathroom floor (right by his litter box) & pissed in the hallway. That must be sharing the wealth, feline style.
He's put on a couple of pounds through the increased caloric intake & steroids. So he looks a bit better. His mind is shot though. He's an outside cat from now on.

That ain’t the kind of wealth you wanna share. It’s bad enough scooping out the chunks, but when they miss the box completely, that’s a BIG issue with me. Ours have done that, only the first two and only after they had or were in the process of having their strokes. Izzie had a little spot of runny poo after the spider bite, but not much bigger than a half dollar. GO DODGERS!!!

He's at the door & staring in. Sleet is on the couch. I have to ignore him. The weather is great & he has everything he needs out there. Obviously the neighbors like him too. I can't spend my days scrubbing up his piss & shit.
The vet had asked if he had diarrhea. Before the heat wave he didn't. I saw him taking a dump in a neighbors' yard & it looked normal. Maybe this is a reaction to the steroids. But my aunt totally lost control right before dying.

I stopped giving Sly milk & his diarrhea seems to be a bit better. Maybe he's lactose intolerant?
He threw up three times today. On three occasions. He actually threw up eight or nine times. Recently, the two of them have been going through a lot of dry food, which I saw as a good thing. Sly still needs to put on weight (so the milk). But is he eating so much it's making him sick? I wonder. The first couple times he was considerate enough to jump off the couch before puking. The last time he kept moving away from towels I was putting underneath him & yacked right on the sofa. Damn. I had to put him outside for a while. At least until I could clean up & give him a chance to get over that. I let him back in before it got cold. But not before I thoroughly cleaned everything & put towels on the couch. That's where we've all been sleeping lately. He & Sleet are curled up on the towels right now. Sly's coat looks so much better.

Sly's coat looks so much better. We’ve never had a cat in 30 years that didn’t hurl at least one a week. Doesn’t matter if they’re pure breds (of which we’ve had three) or a mutt. I just cleaned a glob off of our stairs a few minutes ago and the same cat yacked on our couch last night. We’ve gotten to the point where we know what barf comes from what cat. I think it comes from both overeating and eating too fast. Our youngest goes thru her allotment of treats and immediately then tries to get the ones we put down for the other, so she then tries to gobble them down. And even though they have three food bowls, whichever bowl one is eating from, that’s the one the other one wants to eat from. It’s the SAME food in all three bowls! They’re not the brightest two bulbs in the pack until it’s litter box time, where both of them will sit and wait while the wife cleans all three and then between the two cats will leave deposits in all three boxes. Little bitches! Maybe try some of that non-lactose or almond milk with Sly. We never give milk to ours because it’s too rich for their digestive systems and always results in barf. GO DODGERS!!!

Thanks. That's good advice & I'm more convinced than ever the milk was giving him the shits. Well, it helped with his weight at least. Both cats over here always eat off the same plate. There's never been a fight provoked by that.

Sly must be up to about 15 pounds now. He looks loads better. Tonight he ate dry food, sliced deli turkey, & some delicious canned salmon. He thought about going outside with Sleet. Glad he didn't. It's a bit cold out there.
No more nasty poop.

It's a bit cold out there. No more nasty poop. We got our first snow of the year - nowhere near the 4 - 6” local media predicted (shocking!). Maybe an inch at best. Got the Hog in the corner for winter storage and the wife’s Benz is once again cozy in the garage. Izzie decided to do some home decorating yesterday by yaking up most of her Meow Mix on just about every carpeted stair, the second floor hallway and my wife’s secondary bedroom. She eats too much too fast because she’s afraid the other one is going to take her food and treats and then they both get all wound up and start running around like idiots until one or both of them hurl. Typical Monday. GO DODGERS!!!

Typical Monday. GO DODGERS!!! Reminds me of my brother. John ate like a dog. Until he would get sick. "Ohhh! I need a wet rag, Mom." When Dad would bring home donuts John would touch the ones he planned on eating next. I was maybe five years old & took to taking the donuts he touched & would drop them on the floor. "Still want it?" "MOM!" He was so easy. I was five when I figured out I could outsmart my ten year old brother. If Sly gets sick he just gets sick. I've never seen these two fight each other over food. They eat better than most people.
