SOMETHING ate Soot's food during the night. I haven't seen him. Anyone with any ideas on what to do if he limps by? If he's still limping like that, then nothing has been done. He could get an infection & die. The people I spoke to the other day made it sound like they have vets they work with. But if the animal has to be put down, then he's put down. I would have to cage him & take him somewhere. Fuck. I don't know. He's such a nice little guy. Beautiful cat too. He deserves better than this. Hate hearing this about Soot. Not a day goes by on Twitter where somebody doesn’t post something about finding an abandoned pup or kitty on the side of the road and then taking them and adopting them. I can’t imagine how twisted one has to be to do that to a poor innocent animal that only wants to love and be loved. Simply breaks my heart being an animal lover that some people think of them as new toys that they can throw away when they’re tired or bored with them. Good luck with Soot - I hope maybe you’ll be able to catch and get him to a vet so he can get that leg fixed up. GO DODGERS!!! I stopped by an animal emergency clinic in Lawndale & the SPCA here in Hawthorne. Hawthorne doesn't handle Hawthorne. Huh? So he asked me who came out from animal control. I don't remember her name. Can I describe her? "Androgenous." He knew right away who I meant. He said that doesn't sound like her. She might have been having a bad day. I got a list of vets from the first, a phone number from the second. I haven't seen Soot. God, I really hope his alleged owners help him. The second guy said the cat might have a chip in him. "Good. Then I can find out who's been abusing him & go burn them with cigarettes." My two greatest fears are they let Soot die, or kill him themselves. To save on the expense.

They could have scanned him & we'd know exactly who's been abusing him.

I'm going to keep blaming myself for Soot. Damn this conscience. He limped across the street to ME. He limped in here. I called animal control. That's good. I didn't fight for him when Pat wouldn't wait. I should have just shouted out - 'Hold up there, Pat. I'll get him. You stay right there.'
Or then I thought of getting the address for Animal Control. I could have taken him in myself.
I do this shit every time. What more could I have done for Mom? Dave? Glory? Sly? My dog Hobo when I was 15. Mom had him put to sleep while I was in school.
About the only one I can wash my hands of is John. Mom made me promise to look after John. I put him through rehab. He moved to Tucson & fell off the wagon. Happy, Mom?
Time to fire one up. I'll be having nightmares later.

Soot showed up! The bump is gone. It must have been a spider bite. He's in here, laying in his usual spot. He's not hungry though. He must still be recovering.
What a relief.

Snowball has become the perfect playmate - for me. She doesn't tear me apart with the same fervor. I can roll her over & tickle her. She just squeaks in delight.
But she still screws with Sleet. Sleet spent all last night sleeping on my lap. Snowball just looked on, jealously. I'm sure Sleet was doing that for protection.
Been raining buckets over here.

Neither of mine have been around me much since my latest injuries. It’s almost they can sense that I’m hurting and don’t want to do anything to further my pain by stepping in the wrong places, etc. Neither one of them is a big fan of my leg / knee brace and who could blame them? It runs from my mid-thigh to nearly my ankle, has steel bars, a plastic hinge in the middle and four Velcro straps. I look like a Transformer. Luckily, it goes away on Saturday. The ribs are coming around, but coughing and sneezing remain very unpleasant. Sitting or turning a certain way also remains painful. But it’s only been a week, so I guess I’m progressing along as quickly as should be expected for an “old skin”. GO DODGERS!!!

Maybe you should give that bubble wrap some more thought. I wasn't shocked my cheek was broken when I passed out on my feet & went headfirst into a concrete driveway. I WAS surprised when I fell down a flight of stairs & broke my ankle. "It was only my ankle?"

Snowball still claws Sleet from time to time. Sleet's backside is always missing some fur. When it gets really noticeable, I have to apply medication. The shit smells like rubbing alcohol. Which it probably is. Just an overpriced version. So she quite understandably runs away. Gets mad at me. And then she looks better by the next day.
I wish I could talk to these cats. I poured rubbing alcohol on my own ankle after an auto accident. The brake pedal got stuck in my ankle. You could see bone. I got home & rinsed it off (I'm not totally crazy & wouldn't try to wash that), & applied peroxide & rubbing alcohol. It's for your own good.
Mom almost threw up watching that.
Couple hours later...
"I'm off to work. You be okay, Mom?"

The people in line in front of me at Petco had this little dog. I don't know breeds. It looked like a sawed-off collie. It's legs were shaking. It looked at me & I bent over & petted it. It really seemed to like that. The owners said now he's going to go down the line & want everyone to pet him.
I've buried so many pets. Hobo when I was a kid. Mom had him put down while I was at school. He had been sick. Glory when she had lymphoma. Sly finally passing away from old age & cancer. It's really hard to let go. This dog doesn't have much time left. God bless them for sticking with him.

My uncle had a neighbor that had two or three of them and they barked ALL the time. Nasty little buggers, but likely a product of their owners and environment. GO DODGERS!!!

Sleet is puking up a storm. I'm used to them barfing. They usually come in pairs. But so far she's chucked twice on the floor & four times on the bed.
Hope she's okay. The last two were more like mucous.

The last two were more like mucous. Our one goes thru that a few times a year or when she gets into something she shouldn’t eat - like that fake plastic grass in Easter baskets. The other one rarely chucks - she turned ten yesterday and I don’t think she’s ever had or chucked a hairball. GO DODGERS!!!

I've been spraying medication on her ass for a skin problem. Just today I was marveling at how much better she looks. We'll use it one more time. Guess not.

Went by the local vet's office yesterday. Surreal experience. The door was unlocked. I walked in & not a sign of life. I wandered around looking for someone. Anyone. No one was home. Figuring I've been recorded, I picked up the phone & called them to tell them you left your front door unlocked. Facing the boulevard like it does, I'm surprised the place hasn't been ransacked. You better get down here right away & lock the joint up. I identified myself in case of maybe getting a future favor from this skinflint. Never heard a word back. Okay. I covered my ass.
Soot is in here right now. Sleet is thinking she wants to go out again. She's been mostly inside for over a year. I had to go off & leave her outside while I got them food. I hate the idea of her going back out because of that terrible ass kicking she took. Then Snowball will want to go outside too. There are just too many cats out there since Sly passed away. Soot came in here in a mood. He hissed at Sleet. Snowball. Me. "Oh shut up!" Then he ate & started clawing a rug. That's universal among cats. They know it annoys people. He wanted to go back out. I told Sleet if you can't handle this guy inside, what happens when you're both outside? Kiss his ass. You need friends.
