So they definitely like this new flavor of catfood.
Sleet is hiding from the black cat. Did he try buggering with her? The good part of that is Sleet finds Snowball acceptable now.

I think they ALL like a little variety, although we have found Purina Cat Chow seems to work best with ours. They have had other brands (Meow Mix, Royal Canin - ridiculously expensive, Dad’s, etc.), but it seems like every time they get something new, they tend to overeat it which leads to projectile vomiting. The one thing I’ve ALWAYS been happy for is none of the four kitties we have had EVER took to the soft canned or pouched foods. That shit is nasty and lucky for us, ours have always turned their noses up at it. GO DODGERS!!!

Soot has been in here about an hour. I would leave the door open if it weren't for Snowball. Snowball is so friendly. Sleet seems to be getting used to the black cat.

I don’t think either of our cats really like me. Izzie lays on my wife for HOURS at a time, yet refuses to even get near me. Harper is and I think always will be a loner. She will sleep between my legs, but rarely spends more than ten or fifteen minutes around either one of us. I’d say she spend around 23 hours a day either in our bed or sleeping somewhere else. She just doesn’t seem interested at all interacting with humans. GO DODGERS!!!

Glory (died in 2003) was the most fiercely loyal. One time she chased me down the street as I rode a bicycle to the local 7/11. Sleet has changed since Sly died. She keeps to herself. I feel so bad for her. Snowball coos like a pigeon. She was cooing at this new cat. Sleet wasn't hissing this time. She just laid atop the loveseat & watched.

I’m sure I’ve probably told most, if not all of this before. Murphy (our first Siamese) was definitely MY cat and she laid on me the way Izzie does with my wife. She had Axl, our only male who was mean as a whip and bit like a shark when he was annoyed. When we got Izzie, she took to my wife and pretty much displaced Axl. But he then decided my lap was better than no lap at all and became my best buddy for the last four or five years of his nine lives. It broke my heart when he got sick and had his stroke the night before I was scheduled to go out of town for work. We had to put him outside in our enclosed porch because he had no control over his bowels and had basically gone ALL over our house. Thankfully we had gotten rid of most of the carpet and had hardwood installed a couple of years prior. I did go out with him the morning I left and told him to try to hold on a few days, but my wife took him to the vet later that day and they recommended his euthanasia. Cried like a baby that night at the Toledo Red Roof Inn. But he had a good life and was only a few months short of 20. STILL sucked I wasn’t there to say goodbye. GO DODGERS!!!

Yesterday Soot came in just before it started to rain. He made both Sleet & Snowball uneasy. Snowball wanted to play. Soot took a couple of swipes at her. That's that. He can still stop by for something to eat. But it'll be on the porch.
It was nice seeing Sleet & Snowball bond some more though. Soot did that, if nothing else. He still doesn't seem like a bad cat. You just don't screw with your hostesses.

Cleaning up around here & came across my late cat Glory's medical report & my letter to the clinic. I have a terrible habit of blaming myself for everything. Re-reading that incident brought tears to my eyes, but peace to my soul. I did the right thing by putting her down. Their report stated she had lymphoma. It had spread to her liver & intestines. Their prognosis was it was going to kill her. "Invasive." "Malignant." Those were the words used to describe her condition. Then they told me it was treatable. $1,000 a month for chemotherapy. "It would be a shame to put your little kitty down after all she's been through." "This is treatable." They put her though that ordeal. It was treatable because they stood to make money off it. The bill was already $2,500.00. Assholes.
Poor Glory.

I’ve got to say we’ve never been duped by the vets we go to and when both of our kitties had their strokes and we took them in, we were advised euthanasia was best for both of them. Even my dog that had internal issues and had to have very expensive surgery got better afterwards, although she was around 10 or 11 at the time and due to her size and breed only lived another couple of years. It’s was one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen, watching my Murphy try to get to her litter box in the basement and falling down the stairs because she had completely lost her equilibrium. Once she made it back up, she was so scared and hid under the couch until the next morning when we took her to the vet. I laid on the floor all night with her. Now I’M starting to tear up, dammit! GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Luckily, my letter stated the case so well (& included copies of their own medical report) that they cancelled out the debt. It must have scared them. Me possibly reporting them to the authorities. Man, they lied straight to my face. I had gotten a copy of their report from the receptionist. They must not have known I had read it. But I'll always remember Tessa taking Glory back to get euthanized. She called & said the vet there told her it was treatable. I said fuck it & drove over there myself. As soon as I walked in the room Glory started purring. That cat purred so loud. Snowball purrs like that. This idiot vet started to explain to me how treatable the cancer was. I quoted their medical report & his face sorta fell. I said the only reason I had Glory brought back here was because you guys already know she's terminal. He put her down. I returned maybe two weeks later with several copies of their report & my letter. Several vets worked at this clinic. I left a copy on every desk. The next time I called in to make a payment, they said it was okay. The account was square. You know how painful it is to say goodbye to a friend. No one has to make it worse.

Greene was absolutely right. I was awakened at 6:00 AM, with Snowball walking across me. She wanted breakfast. I set it out for both her & Sleet. I heard meowing. Soot was on the porch. It was pouring rain outside. His owner has him outside in the rain? We don't have formalities anymore. I open the door & coax. Soot just comes walking in. This is his home. Sleet is still leery of him. I keep in mind that for the first eight years of her life, Sly was her bodyguard. So she doesn't react well to others. Snowball is cautious, but I saw her & Soot playing. I fed Soot & went back to sleep.
At 8:00 AM, I got up & Sleet was on the couch. Soot was snoozing on my recliner. Snowball was shit-stirring by nibbling on me in bed.

It was cold & windy when Soot was staring in the door again. I let him in. That was about two hours ago. He's resting on the recliner. Sleet is on the loveseat. That's several feet closer than the sofa. Snowball is on the bed next to me. Everyone seems calm.
