I liked the way the Red Sox treated JD Drew, after DePo gave him 5 years & $55,000,000 guaranteed. They had various performance clauses based on plate appearances. You play, you get paid. You dog it, we cut you loose. DePo had given DREW an opt-out after two years. That's how we got rid of him. Base any (goes for any team that signs him) contract on incentives. Not a guaranteed contract. I'm not sure, but suspect the lack of interest shown in him this past winter might just be reflective of a general skepticism over Cody's work ethic. My, how the salaries between MLB & the NFL have grown. Drew got $55 mil over five years. The local Bungles just signed Burrow for that SAME amount. But that’s his ANNUAL per diem. And for FIVE years which equal $275 mil (with production incentives & bonuses); but $219 mil is guaranteed. We’ve seen this movie before as well. Last time, it was Carson Palmer who Uncle Mikey blew his wad on. Unfortunately, he had nothing left to pay for an offensive line, RB’s or WR’s. Palmer got killed and spent more time on his back than feet. He finally refused to play and demanded / got traded. Part Two is just getting started, but it certainly looks to be a repeat of the Palmer saga. GO DODGERS!!! This reminded me to check on Cody. He had a nine-game hitting streak snapped yesterday. He went 13-37 / .351-4-10 during that streak. 10 K's & no walks. Looks like he's trying to be more aggressive. Put some meat on those stats. His season long line is .318-24-86 / .362 / .548.

Carlos Santana has 297 homers & 998 RBI's. What could have been with this guy if he hadn't had that knee injury.

At the end of August, Kenley Jansen had a 2.74 ERA. Since then, he's appeared in 4 games, spanning just 2.0 innings pitched, given up 5 hits, 1 a homer, 2 walks, surrendered 5 earned runs, rung up 1 K, & his season long ERA has soared to 3.63. His WHIP is a career high 1.28. He has 29 saves, & 420 in his storied career.

Cody Bellinger's pretty obvious gambit of fleshing out his power stats is having an adverse effect on his batting average. He's down to .305. .305-26-95. He's 9-48 / .188-2-9 over his last 13 games.

I’ve noticed a SHARP decrease in X posts from Cubbie fans begging for him to re-sign with them. Amazing how quickly they turn on their players after a couple of bad weeks. He’ll probably still get some ungodly annual over multiple years from someone, that’s for certain. Seems like something the idiot Preiler in San Diego might do. GO DODGERS!!!

This pretty much proves Cody just wasn't listening while here. He lost some mobility & maybe power in his shoulder after that ill-advised high-five with Hernandez. He kept trying to hit 47 homeruns. He kept getting raises for failing. He went to Chicago & worked on his swing & approach. He was hitting well over .300. His power numbers were good. Not great. Certainly good enough to warrant a multiyear contract extension. But then he figured he could flesh out those power numbers by swinging big again. Get a better contract. He's gone into an immediate tailspin. Now, does he realize his mistake & go back to what got him here? Or continue flailing away? I would be wary of him either way. He's too young to be that stubborn.

Justin Turner has hit the skids during the stretch run, in september his numbers in 20 games .208/.279/.286/.565 1 hr 8rbis J.D martinez could match those power numbers in 1 game. J.D's numbers in september 15 games .375/.422/.768/1.190 6hrs 20 rbis. so I'm glad we have J.D and boston has Justin.

Losing him was bittersweet but had to be done.
