I'm sure we all have hobbies & things we hoard. My hoarding includes watches, baseball cards, coins & bills, Kachina dolls (lived in Arizona for a while), books (doesn't everyone do it online nowadays?) & Indian jewelry. I have two circa 1940's radios too. I often listen on my 1948 bakelite radio to get the jump on the rest of you in play by play on Dodger games.
Maybe about 20 watches. That is my costliest hobby. The baseball cards are an investment. I have between 8,000 to 10,000 that have some value. Mom left me 17 silver dollars from the 19th century & I've built on that. I haven't checked if Kachina dolls appreciate. Probably not. I just like them. One cost $400.00. Indian jewelry is relatively cheap. I avoid the gaudy. Love those radios & maybe I should get another before this dealer dies. He's in his 80's.
Anyone else?

I forgot the cowboy boots & guns. They're pretty costly. Seven pairs of mostly high-end cowboys boots. An SLR 2000 Bulgarian assault rifle, 357 Smith & Wesson revolver, & Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun. I want a 38 snub nose too. That's probably next.

I have a stainless steel Taurus 9mm with a 6” barrel, a DPMS Panther AR-15, with pop-up sites and a separate scope; my everyday carry is my James Bond stainless Walther PK38. VERY nice little unit that is lightweight and tucks right into my belt. Guitars - somewhere in the 10 - 12 range. I tend to lose track of how many of them I have but I’m in the process of thinning the herd and pretty much have put my entire musical collection (6 guitars, two amps w/ speakers, foot pedals & effects rack) on Craigslist. Thinking about retirement and definitely don’t want to be hauling all of that stuff with me. Autographs - hundreds of photos, posters, album covers, baseballs, bats, batting helmet, hockey pucks, drum head, harmonica, etc. signed by everyone from The Beatles to Guns N Roses to the casts of Friends and Seinfeld. One of my favs is a photo of Newman and Redford as Butch & Sundance that they both signed. NASCAR diecast. Was REALLY into this back when racing was watchable and have around 100 1:24 scale cars in mirrored cases; a couple of 1:18 scales and a few 1:64 scales. Haven’t bought any new ones for over a decade, tho. The racing these days sucks! That’s about it for me! GO DODGERS!!!

Sounds like we could go on a spree if the Dodgers don't make the playoffs.

I'll probably leave a lot of this stuff to my grandson. If a George Brett, Paul Molitor, Robin Yount or Cal Ripkin card is valuable now, what might it be in 20 years? The watches I take particular pride in. Dad wore a $5.00 watch his whole life. I still have it because it was his.

That was always awkward for me. Asking for autographs. I lost the one I got from Willie Davis in 1966. Hell. I was only six years old. But it definitely increases the value of our collectibles.
Butch & Sundance changed my life. I showed no particular interest in history before seeing that movie. After that it consumed me. How much?

I collected those cars too. My daughter crashed them together. God bless her.
Couldn't tell you anything about the state of racing. Cars going in a circle. Crowd (ghouls) oohing & ahhing when there's a crash. A buddy of mine (who was whiter than me until he was seventeen, but became SuperMex after that) got into car racing. I just asked - 'So how ya'll like that autimobile racin' now, pard?' 'F you!' 'Exactly. You're one confused MF.'

Your grandson is one lucky kid! I / we really don’t have anyone to leave our wares to. Never had kids; have some nieces and nephews and an older sister. But they all have their own stuff and I doubt very seriously they would want any or all of our crap. I think our plan is to leave our entire estate to a non-kill animal rescue. We’ve always had a soft spot in our hearts for puppies and kitties.
Getting autographs was something I never had problems with, starting all way back when I was a kid in grade school and the state governor visited one day. Walked right up, presented him with a pen and paper and was very polite. He signed it and patted me on the head.
All of the famous people in sports, movies, television, bands, etc. have been cool as hell. I had to “chase” a few - like Juan Pierre. Yeah- I know, right? We had gone to Vero for the final year and I had an authentic full sized batting helmet signed by every player and coach that year.
But I kept missing Pierre. When LA came to town later that year, I think he remembered me because as soon as he’d see me, he’d bolt to the outfield or dugout. So last game of the series I kinda sneaked in behind him and another player sitting on the third bass tarps. He had no choice but to sign it for me.
One of my most prized items because I got EVERY signature myself (including Kersh, who had just been brought up a week or so prior to the series here, Donny Baseball, Joe Torre and the entire team with one exception: Manny Ramirez. And I will get it before I check out.
We used to really enjoy racing and went to the Brickyard 400 over a dozen times. But both of my fav drivers (Rusty Wallace & Tony Stewart, both of whom I’ve met a number of times - cool dudes!) retired years ago & my wife’s fav (Jeff Gordon, who else?) turned in his keys a couple of years ago.
And the racing these days is just so uninteresting. The same four or five guys have won every week, very little “swapping paint”, no “good -vs- evil”, ala WWF - everybody likes everybody. We used to watch just about every race every week, but this year I could count the number of races I’ve seen on one hand. And that’s including all three main series. Just a complete snooze fest anymore.
Butch Cassidy is one of my fav movies of all time and would definitely be one of my three “desert island” DVD’s. Hopefully Gilligan & the Professer can hook me up with one of those coconut manufacturerd and powered players.
GO DODGERS!!!

Checked out a Walther P38 myself yesterday. That is one cool looking gun. $695.00. Is that too much? The salesperson was confused (she was reading the description) & called it French. Walther is French? Then I got a sort of pessimistic view that this gun might explode in my hand. DW was right - I must be a racist. Hey! I'm part French on the Bonham side of the family.
'Ho-ho! My hand is blown off by our poorly engineered & defective weapons. We surrender.'
But the Walther is of German design. The French adopted it after getting their asses kicked. I WANT this gun.

It is a sweet little piece that can take down a man with one shot, yet is VERY lightweight and extremely accurate. I got it mainly because it’s what James Bond uses and it looked so cool in the last few flicks with Daniel Craig. But it quickly became my every day carry. I think I got mine for around $500 - but I did it on-line from a shop out of state & it was a close-out / last one they had. When it made its way up here, the dealer I had it delivered to for my registration had the exact same one in their case for I believe $695, so that price is good unless you get lucky like I did. GO DODGERS!!!

Same screen. One was the U.S.S. Enterprise. The other the Missouri.
