"For once, we dodged a bullet, though we've been graized by another. Buehler will miss a start or two at the most, while Santana won't need surgery. That 60 day DL often means he's out for the season, but his rotator cuff needs rest, so it looks like August, when we'll need him most.
So the baseball gods cut us a little break anyway!"
The resilience of this team is breathtaking.

Hate to be the “cloud of doom”, but I’m guessing surgery is in Santana’s future, GO DODGERS!!!

June 10, 2018 3:03 pm Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Ready for Wednesday's start by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Maeda (hip) feels ready to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Maeda's availability for that upcoming game was dependent on the results of his bullpen session Sunday. After his session, he said he felt fine and was prepared to make the start. The team hasn't officially named him the starter, but all signs point to him returning from the disabled list Wednesday.

June 10, 2018 2:26 pm Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Plays long toss Sunday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kershaw (back) played catch at 60 feet Sunday, Alanna Rizzo of SportsNetLA reports.
Kershaw was reportedly throwing with high intensity Sunday morning, which is obviously a positive sign. He'll still need to begin throwing bullpen sessions and simulated games before potentially going on a minor-league rehab stint in the coming weeks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. He remains on track for an early-July return.

June 10, 2018 2:06 pm Dodgers' Justin Turner: Available off bench Sunday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Turner (wrist) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
After missing the past three games with a wrist injury, Dave Roberts stated Saturday that the third baseman would be back in the starting lineup Sunday. The skipper has apparently changed his mind and decided to withhold Turner from the lineup in the series finale. Turner will, however, be available to pinch hit and is expected to start Tuesday against the Rangers, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

It's a strain, not a tear, according to the injury report on our home page, so I guess it IS rest that's needed.

Okay - I’ll go there as well. I’ve never heard of a rotator cuff strain. Seems to me like there’s something they’re not telling us or don’t know. Wasn’t Ryu initially diagnosed with a shoulder “strain” that ended up a surgical procedure? I won’t be one bit surprised if Santana is headed down that same road.
GO DODGERS!!!

The thing that is most galling is he was throwing a ball in the minors. He throws a ball for the Dodgers & he's out for 60 days. At least. What the freaking F.

I still think it’s the Curse of McCourt and that voodoo healer that was really a “hexer”. We’ve had more injuries to our starters over the last few years than probably the other 31 teams COMBINED, or damn close to it. Add in the position players and we will continue our now three year trend and domination of leading the majors in IR days. Not exactly one of the records a team would strive for breaking camp. GO DODGERS!!!

I just looked up the rotator cuff, to see exactly what it is. It's muscles and tendons, so they can be strained and not torn. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotator_cuff

And while I understand the “mechanics” as well as the obvious difference between a strain and a tear, I still get the feeling this is worse than they’re letting on. It’s not like LA’s medical team of experts haven’t been wrong before. If there’s even the slightest chance of a tear, fix it now & hope for availability sometime in ‘19. GO DODGERS!!!

June 12, 2018 12:41 pm Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Cleared to start Wednesday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Maeda (hip) would be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Maeda completed a bullpen session Sunday without incident, so he'll rejoin the rotation after missing about two weeks with the strained right hip. The right-hander's addition comes at a vital time with Ross Stripling representing the only other regular in the Los Angeles rotation that is at full strength. Alex Wood (hamstring) and Walker Buehler (ribs) both succumbed to injuries in their most recent outings, while the Dodgers continue to wait for Clayton Kershaw (back), Rich Hill (finger) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) to return from the DL.

This kind of stuff is just maddening to read. If the Dodgers, with all their resources, can't find a doctor who can diagnose a broken bone, then what chance do we have?
June 12, 2018 7:33 pm Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Heads to DL with rib microfracture by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Buehler (ribs) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a right rib microfracture.
Buehler was reportedly only dealing with a rib bruise, but an MRI revealed the microfracture Tuesday, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports, which is likely to have the right-hander on the shelf for a couple weeks. The 23-year-old was struck by a 108-mph line drive May 21, and ended up pitching through the injury three additional times. Buehler has been fantastic with a 2.63 ERA and 0.95 WHIP and 54 strikeouts across 51.1 innings this season, as the Dodgers send yet another starting pitcher to the disabled list.

Not only are the Dodgers a lucrative contract all by themselves, but imagine how much free publicity a doctor & or clinic gets by being associated with them. How can you miss a broken bone with so much at stake? Uhhh!

June 13, 2018 7:42 pm Dodgers' Alex Wood: Start pushed back to Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Wood (hamstring) will make his next start Saturday against the Giants, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Wood lasted just 4.2 innings in his previous start due to hamstring an abductor discomfort, so the Dodgers will give him an extra day of rest before his next start. Thanks to an off day Thursday, the Dodgers can simply push Ross Stripling up a day to pitch Friday on regular rest. The extra rest will hopefully allow Wood to get back on track, as the southpaw has allowed a brutal 15 runs (13 earned) across his past three starts (12 innings).

June 13, 2018 7:25 pm Dodgers' Rich Hill: Set for rehab start Thursday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Hill (finger) will make a rehab start for High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Hill has been cleared to begin a minor-league rehab stint after getting through a four-inning simulated game with no issues over the weekend. He'll throw four or five innings and run his pitch count up in the 60-to-75 range. If all goes well during Thursday's outing, Hill's next start could be for the Dodgers.
