This isn't last year. Time to move on from that as a defense against what people see this year. Wood is yet to win a game and after watching the first 4 innings yesterday I knew the team was in trouble. They were making good contact against Wood the balls were just luckily going straight to the Dodgers defenders. That changed unfortunately. The bullpen is not performing to last years standards. They have yet to identify a consistent setup man. Velocity's are down for several key pitchers. It is one thing to say the hitters that haven't hit will eventually do so but another when there are issues with the players pitching arms. Reminds me of when the Mets went to the W.S. and then several of their starters have not been the same since. Highlights the importance of getting the job done when you go to the World Series. Hopefully the light switch goes on some time soon but if it doesn't I am starting to wonder if Dave Roberts will be the scape goat. Guess he is getting frustrated a little at least also. He benched Bellinger for not hustling. Bellinger told the media that wasn't true and that he always hustles. Anyways if things do not turn around and the Dodgers do miss the postseason ownership and the front office have no one to blame but themselves so I hope to see Dave Roberts stick around. I read an article at the beginning of the season that claimed the front office expected the velocities to be down for the teams pitchers if so maybe they should have augmented the staff more adequately. I saw much of this coming from the offseason again this isn't last year.

Andy McCullough Verified account @mcculloughtimes 10m 10 minutes ago Cody Bellinger got benched. Dave Roberts got frustrated. The Dodgers are a righteous mess heading into four games with Arizona. www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-giants-20180429-story.html-------------------------------------------------------------------- Glad the team is getting frustrated their play has been unacceptable. Time to man up and turn things around. Hopefully in Arizona.

Buehler's performance (both starts) is the early season positive note.

Good point. We shouldn't play the postseason card.

Good point. We shouldn't play the postseason card. Yeah the team has to get there this year before being concerned about it. Until this weekend the team has been fairly healthy which makes the bad start that much more surprising (pitchers are on the field). Frisco is missing their ace and their number 3 starter for much of the early going. Arizona has missed Jake Lamb and lost Walker for the season in the early going and have won 5 out 6 head to head with LA. Hopefully the Dodgers can play better the next 4 days. If things go as they have been going by Friday the team could be 11 games out.

"Frisco is missing their ace and their number 3 starter for much of the early going." Thanks for the update. Just comparing the current states of the three teams. Usually teams struggle with injuries but these two teams have shown an ability to overcome that fact the first month of the season and have won the head to head matchups with the Dodgers. I agree with your premise that the guys will hit once again. As I said I am concerned by what I have seen with several important pieces of the pitching staff. With Wood I wonder if he should bring his windup back? He doesn't look like the pitcher he was last year.

And as far as Roberts being set up as a “scapegoat”, I don’t buy that. He has an option for next year, which also happens to be the final year on Friedman’s contract. We won’t see a Roberts extension until after Friedman gets one, assuming he does of course.

_______________
No one said it was. Last year is used as an example of how the season doesn't end just because of a bad streak. That's a concept that you just can't seem to understand about this game.
This is the wrong game for you. Stick to football.

"This isn't last year. Time to move on from that as a defense against what people see this year."
Bingo!
Nothing is ever the same. Even with the almost-same roster, the players are older, the line-ups are different, and so on. This team ain't the same.
The Dodgers have played 27 games, 1/6th (16.7%) of their full-year schedule. Lots of statistically significant data there. Unless you're mathematically-challenged, you know this data portends a dismal season. Those of you who will reply "What about the 42-8 streaks?" also believe in the tooth fairy, while the rest of us know how likely we're going to get a prize under our pillows tonight.
It's time everyone stopped saying "it's baseball!" and "just wait!" and all the rest of the stick-your-head-in-the-sand crap, hoping the ship will right itself (as if by magic!).
16.7% of the full-year data points show that this is not a fluke. This is a trend and will remain a trend unless things change.
