I’ve been ordering from Amazon since around the time they first started - thirty years ago.
I’ve always been pretty much satisfied with my purchases there as well as their time service and pricing.
There have been a few incidents with returns, but in the end they all worked out and I was satisfied with the outcome.
Until today.
I ordered a case box of 16 O’Henry candy bars late last week. They’ve always been one of my favourites, but for some reason stopped being available around these parts a few years ago.
Enter Amazon - those guys have EVERYTHING!
They arrived on my doorstep late this afternoon after spending the day riding around in the back of a non air conditioned UPS truck.
It’s a typical summer day here in Cin City - mid-90’s with around 1,000% humidity.
When my wife brought the package up to my office, I opened it to find I had been sent four packages of four bars each.
Okay - no problem there. Then I went to open one of the four packs to find the bars were COMPLETELY melted and inedible.
The other two four packs were also soft and I can only imagine there would be more chocolate on the individual wrappers than the bars themselves.
The fourth four pack wasn’t even O’Henry’s. It was some coffee wafer chocolate bar from Nestle.
There was a cold pac in with the bars that was as melted and warm as the bars themselves.
So I immediately go to my app on my phone to request a return and refund. Nope - not available. Contact seller? Also not available.
Call to Amazon - get automated response that item is not returnable and seller cannot be contacted.
After arguing with a machine for around five minutes, I finally get to speak to someone - accent screamed Asian or Indian.
She advised they would contact seller who would then get back in touch with me within 48 hours. I’m not holding my breath.
Looks like I’ll be making another inquiry to Chase Bank to dispute these charges.
What a huge hassle and runaround.
Guess I’ll think twice about ordered perishables via Amazon in the future.
FIRE DAVE ROBERTS!!!
