I heard Joe DiMaggio had it written into contracts that he always be introduced as the greatest living player. That had to be galling to this guy. x.com/MLB/status/1803231592527143109

Knocked the Brewers / Angels game right off the air, although no great loss there. GO DODGERS!!!

Okay - MLB-TV - we get it. Mays was one of the best to ever lace up the spikes.
But how about some highlights from the games last night instead of the endless loop of repeated interviews with Bob Costas, Ken Griffey, Jr., etc.
I’ve had the channel on for a couple of hours now and they just keep showing this same thing with highlights (of course including “the catch”) over and over and over again.
It’s getting a bit tedious, boring and bothersome. I wanna see the ninth inning comeback!!!
GO DODGERS!!!

Damn - had something to do away from the TV for about 30 minutes. Came back downstairs and there’s Ken Griffey, Jr. again!
I rewound the TIVO to see the LA / CO highlights were on tap. Heyward’s grand slam, Teo’s check swing and then three run shot and that was it. Maybe 15 - 20 seconds.
And the right back to the “sad day in MLB and the nation” fifteen - twenty minute segment as previously described.
Seriously, how many times can they show this? I’m guessing it’ll go on all night and into the morning shows.
Perfect timing for the made up Juneteeenth holiday. Geez!!!
GO DODGERS!!!

Mays talked about a catch he made one time. Not every game was televised back then. He said he overran the ball & barehanded it.
There will never be another Willie Mays.

I did get to hear the whining by the Rockies announcers and Bud Black via Twitter videos. Classic. I seem to remember a game a few years back, possibly a playoff or World Series where one of LA’s players CLEARLY checked his swing - the bat didn’t even get close to crossing home plate - and it was called strike three ending the game and I believe costing the Dodgers that series. I guess it’s true - what comes around goes around. GO DODGERS!!!
