With next Friday being the last day. They were so good for things like cat litter, bleach, sponges, Benadryl, soups, chili, noodles, rice, condiments. The passing of an era.

Seems like retail stores may cease to exist in our lifetime. The three big malls in my area are either 85% vacant or in the process of being re-developed for condos and warehousing. We went from six major malls within our 275 loop around the city and each with 150 - 200 stores each to just three in the last five or six years. Two are on the snooty east side and still attract a decent amount of foot traffic and the other is in northern Kentucky (Florence). We have two of those Dollar stores within walking distance and nearly right across the street from each other. Both seem to do a Dec amount of business. - there’s always multiple cars in both lots. GO DODGERS!!!

Hawthorne has lost it's mall, Northrup, it's hospital, two thirds of it's bars, KFC, Sizzler, one of it's two 99 Cent Stores, a Ralph's, a Chase Bank, multiple small businesses, a theater, an iconic Foster's Freeze, & I don't know what else.
What we have are a glut of dentists, churches, donut shops & auto repair shops. The dentists are to cheat MediCal. The churches to pray for hitting the lotto. The donut shops for cops. Auto repair because of the old clunky cars.
Lotta new housing. Buy four old houses & put up HUGE apartment complexes.

They tore down a twenty story Sheraton that was plagued with problems from the time they broke ground on it. Evidently it was built on some land that had natural springs deep below which resulted in a huge mold problem to go along with the asbestos insulation they used in the original structure. Twenty or so years, multiple different ownership groups and just as many attempts to repair and rehab and they finally caved and tore it down. It was supposed to be redeveloped as housing and restaurants, but I guess they scrapped the restaurants because it’s now dozens of condos / apartments structures with probably a dozen or so units in each building. Crazy thing is, it’s almost completely full. I have NO idea where all these people are coming from, but I have to believe there’s more than a few of Biden’s border crossers living on our dime there. They actually just caught one not far north from there in Hamilton that killed and raped someone. Dude had multiple felony warrants and arrests and no papers. The only shocking thing is the sheriff there didn’t just take the guy out and string him up. He’s kinda redneck nuts. GO DODGERS!!!
