Another NL West title. Ho hum. At least Ferris kept them in the game tonight, albeit he could only go five and had only a single K. The pen was stellar again tonight, but one has to wonder just how long before they flame out like the 2018 squad did. LA’s postseason rotation will certainly be interesting if nothing else. Three more to go. A sweep in CO guarantees home field advantage throughout the postseason, I believe. Or did the Turd reinstate the alternating AL / NL home field advantage rule?
Not sure that’s going to make much difference as long as the two morons in charge and their Gospel Book of Analytics are in the dugout. The only bad thing about another title is it guarantees those two another multiple seasons. But then again, another early exit probably won’t change that. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!! Guess I missed a great comeback. The waiters told me about it. They were watching from a booth in the lobby. That's one DW21 missed. Selig got embarrassed in Milwaukee & instituted that asinine rule change. Whoever wins the All-Star game, that league gets home field advantage. He also stabbed Fay Vincent in the back to get that job.

Dodgers $162 million superstar's untimely injury puts playoffs in jeopardy
Story by Jackson Roberts • 2h • 2 min read
All of Southern California momentarily came to a halt in the middle of Thursday night's game.
As the Los Angeles Dodgers were battling for the National League West title that they would eventually clinch, they endured one of the scariest moments of their season.
First baseman Freddie Freeman was running to first base on a ground ball when he awkwardly had to dodge the tag from San Diego Padres first baseman Luis Arraez. He rolled his right ankle badly on the play, and was helped off the field by trainers.
Freeman was on crutches after the game, with a walking boot covering the injured ankle. Fortunately, X-rays were negative, providing the Dodgers with at least an initial glimmer of hope that Freeman will be ready to go by their Division Series opener next weekend.
“It’s swollen,” Freeman said, per Juan Toribio of MLB.com. “But they’re pretty optimistic that I should be able to go by Saturday in the playoffs. That’s what I’m banking on. I’ve never rolled an ankle, so I don’t know. It’s pretty large right now.”
Freeman, manager Dave Roberts, and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman all expressed their confidence that the star first baseman would be able to return for the playoffs. But it's still too early to know for sure if that's a safe bet.
The Dodgers also were quick to rule Freeman out for their weekend series against the Colorado Rockies, which can only matter for seeding purposes. He will stay at home and focus on kickstarting a speedy recovery.
The injury puts the finishing touch on another excellent regular season for Freeman, who ranks ninth among qualified hitters in on-base percentage (.378) and 17th in OPS (.854). He also racked up 22 home runs, 89 RBI, and 4.7 wins above replacement.
The saving grace for the Dodgers is the first-round bye. This is why it's ridiculous for teams and their fans to whine about the supposed disadvantage of skipping the Wild Card round. Now, the Dodgers can rest and let Freeman heal instead of risking elimination, potentially without their three-hitter.

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Solid over five frames Rotowire 4 hrs ago Buehler did not factor into the decision in a win over the Padres on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out one.
Buehler had a solid showing overall Thursday despite allowing at least one hit in four of his five innings of work. The veteran right-hander allowed just one run on the night, which came in the fifth after he allowed back-to-back hits with one out, followed by an RBI groundout from Luis Arraez. It marked the fifth-consecutive start in which Buehler was able to get through at least five innings and he's now allowed one run or fewer in two of his last three outings. He did, however, post just one strikeout in Thursday's no-decision after fanning a season-high nine batters in his previous trip to the mound.
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Out for regular season Rotowire 12 hrs ago Freeman (ankle) was seen on crutches and in a walking boot following Thursday's game against the Padres and will not return during the regular season, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Freeman rolled his ankle attempting to avoid a tag at first base on an off-target throw, but the Dodgers said he avoided structural damage. He is expected to be ready for the postseason.
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Exits Thursday's game Rotowire 13 hrs ago Freeman exited Thursday's game against the Padres with an apparent ankle injury, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Freeman was attempting to avoid a tag at first base and rolled his ankle in the process. He walked off the field under his own power but immediately went to the clubhouse. The severity of the issue is unclear, though it wouldn't be a surprise for the Dodgers to rest him in hopes of a postseason return -- particularly if they can clinch the NL West on Thursday.
Dodgers' Brent Honeywell: Suffers cracked fingernail Rotowire 15 hrs ago Honeywell was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a cracked right fingernail.
Honeywell has pitched 37.2 innings split between time with the Pirates and Dodgers. He's been effective in a low-leverage role since his most recent promotion Aug. 31, maintaining a 3.21 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 14 innings.
Dodgers' Anthony Banda: Back from injured list Rotowire 15 hrs ago Banda (hand) was activated from the injured list Thursday.
Banda has been sidelined since Sept. 9 after fracturing his left hand. He had factored into the save picture before being sidelined, though he's more likely to work in a setup role to conclude the regular season and into the playoffs.
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Progress stalled Rotowire 18 hrs ago Kershaw (toe) will not be available for at least a couple more weeks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Manager Dave Roberts told the media that Kershaw's progress has stalled and that Kershaw is dealing with pain in his toe as well as other unspecific issues. It was already known that he would not be back for the regular season, though his status for the postseason now also appears to be in jeopardy.
Dodgers' Hunter Feduccia: Optioned to minors Rotowire 18 hrs ago The Dodgers optioned Feduccia to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Feduccia appeared in three games after Austin Barnes hit the 10-day injured list Sept. 16. In that small sample, Feduccia went 3-for-10 with a walk and RBI. Barnes was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move Thursday.
Dodgers' Ben Casparius: Back in Los Angeles Rotowire 18 hrs ago The Dodgers recalled Casparius from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.
Just two days after being optioned to the minors, Casparius will return to the Dodgers' bullpen to make up for the loss of Brusdar Graterol (shoulder), who landed on the 15-day IL on Thursday. The 25-year-old Casparius has been solid during his brief time in the majors, allowing just one earned run over four innings, and he figures to work in middle relief during the final four games of the regular season.
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Placed on injured list Rotowire 18 hrs ago The Dodgers placed Graterol on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right shoulder inflammation, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Graterol has thrown seven shutout innings since returning from the a hamstring injury Sept. 10, but he'll now officially miss the Dodgers' final four games as well as the first portion of the team's postseason run. Shoulder problems caused the 26-year-old righty to miss the entire first half of the season, though the severity of his latest injury remains unknown. In a corresponding move, Ben Casparius was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the opening in Los Angeles' bullpen.
Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Activated from IL Rotowire 18 hrs ago The Dodgers activated Barnes (toe) from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Barnes fractured his left big toe Sept. 15 after fracturing the same toe in August. However, the fractures occurred in different spots of the toe. With Barnes returning from injury, Hunter Feduccia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Ohtani reached 400 total bases last night. He's 3 short of 100 extra base hits. A homerun & 2 doubles would do it.

The waiters missed these parts. When it rains, it truly POURS on LA. Freddie, Gaterade & Kershaw with continuing setbacks - the one we DO get back is the LEAST needed or wanted. There has to be some investigation into the trainers and coaches as to why these injuries are almost like clockwork with the Dodgers. But I’m sure there won’t be. Seems like these issues have been ongoing since right around the time current ownership stepped in and hired Daisy. Coincidence? Perhaps. But let’s not kid ourselves - his “best buddy” managerial style could very well be linked to players not feeling the need to train and keep themselves in tip top condition not only during the regular but also off season. The hamstrings, arms, elbows, shoulders, obliques - they all require constant attention and conditioning to stay viable and healthy. Conditioning certainly doesn’t seem to be a priority in LA anymore. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not starting Friday Rotowire 1 hr ago Muncy is absent from Friday's lineup against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Muncy has gone 1-for-9 with one run scored and three walks in his last three starts since returning from side soreness. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout as Chris Taylor draws the start at third base and bats eighth.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Gets breather Friday Rotowire 1 hr ago Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Smith has gone 3-for-13 with one home run and two RBI over his last four games. He'll get some rest Friday, with Austin Barnes serving behind home plate and batting ninth.
Dodgers' Ryan Brasier: Starting bullpen game Rotowire 2 hrs ago Brasier will start Friday's game against the Rockies, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
The Dodgers will be relying on their bullpen to get them through Friday's series opener, and they'll entrust Brasier with at least the first three batters. The 37-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 27 frames on the year, though his outing Friday will almost certainly be brief, as only two of his 28 appearances have lasted more than one inning.

www.mlb.com/standings/I've always used 95 wins as a sort of demarcation line. It would be nice to get at least one more.

I’ve rolled my ankle a lot of times. It’s no big deal. Freddy will be back when it counts.

That's 96 RBI's for Hernandez. Playing in Colorado, he has a shot at 100.
