Surely the Dodgers' scouts & coaches have more to say about this than we do. On the surface of it though, I would. I should preface that remark by commenting I wasn't thrilled with his acquisition. But he's proven beyond a doubt he had some game left. He turned 36 last month. He made $10,000,000 on a one year contract. He's strictly a DH. He still missed a considerable amount of time. Is what he offers worth one year, plus an option? Say, $12,000,000 + a $10,000,000 option based on plate appearances? If he would accept that, there's really no harm in offering it. That's IF he would accept it. There's still the Mets & Padres' stupidity to reckon with.

I’d rather see that money go to J.D. and a couple of front line pitchers myself, but that’s just me. Ohtani is like the biggest and bestest new toy on the market and there’s only one available. I think it’s a HUGE mistake to devote a half billion to a dude in his 30’s who may never pitch, or at least pitch effectively again. LA has been burned a number of times going after and spending on “flash” players. This is one they should pass on. GO DODGERS!!!

Add JD, & no more 'throwaway lineups.' Lux will be back. That's pretty deep.

Are you kidding me. You offer this guy $15 million for a year and hopefully he bites. Then they have to resign Peralta and then go after Ohtani who will take Heyward's spot. Now that we know that Betts can play both middle infield spots at a high level Chris Taylor gets moved since Rojas is signed and can play every infield spot. Then you decide if you want to keep Muncy and have him tutor either Busch or Vargas at 3rd or go after Matt Chapman. They have to bring in Blake Snell to be at the forefront with Miller and Buehler and maybe just maybe pick- up Lynn's option for $18 million and round off the rotation with the rooks and Kershaw as the #5 if he decides to come back.
Ohtani won't pitch in 2024 and can play the outfield. He'd be an upgrade over Heyward both offensively and defensively they just have to tell him not to go running into any walls. The problem is if they want him throwing the ball at all.

Throwing from an outfield position could be harder on his arm recovery than pitching. While obviously less frequent, the throws are going to be significantly longer, requiring more accuracy as well as speed. I honestly don’t know or see how he’s even going to be able to swing a bat with the ferocity and pressure it takes to hit something coming in at 100 + mph at times. He needs to get the surgery and take a year or whatever off if he ever hopes to regain the dominance he showed this season before the injury. I don’t see him getting anywhere near the half billion he and Borass are expecting, but you never know just how stupid some owners are until they pull the trigger on “what might have been”. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Sensible! I was just thinking that this injury let both the Dodgers and Angles off the hook. I don't think many would blame the Dodgers if they stayed away from his type of contract being that he is a question mark for the 2024 season. Likewise I don't think many would blame the Angles for letting him walk being that 2024 would be a complete enigma for him and they need to win. Contrarily he might go back to Anaheim on a lesser contract being that he might need a comfort zone while rehabbing. Me, if he can't hit at a top notch level in 2024 then let him go elsewhere. The tables have turned on a must sign because of the unknown. This team can and will contend with a top rotation of Snell, B. Miller, Buehler a strong pen, the two horses at the top of the lineup and some guys that can slap the ball around.
