That fateful decision by the empire of Japan to attack America & give Roosevelt the excuse he needed to go full bore into WWII. Our dual front victory launched the United States to the forefront of the world's superpowers. It also began the end of European colonialism.
None of that would have been possible without the selfless sacrifices of our parents & grandparents. Thank you for passing the baton on an America that stood united & strong.

Hard to believe that there weren’t more human casualties there other than the nearly complete destruction of our naval fleet. Doolittle and his men certainly assured that payback was a MF. GO DODGERS!!!

Horrible what has happened to Maui and the wildfires enhanced by hurricane winds. The harbor town and former capital of Lahaina will never be the same.
As someone who has been there twice (we actually stayed at condos IN Lahaina the last time we went as we dined and shopped there just about every single day and night the first time we went), it was simply heartbreaking to see the sheer devastation of such a fun and beautiful little village.
From Moose’s (where we had huge breakfasts with quart sized screwdrivers while watching the NFL games) to Cheeseburger in Paradise (where my wife’s Ohio License plate hung on the wall) to Kimo’s to the old & original Duke’s (now occupied by Mick Fleetwood’s bar) - just a gut wrenching kick in the nuts.
We had seriously considered retiring there, but financially it just wasn’t in the cards. The condos we looked at were fairly reasonable for such a resort island.
But it was EVERYTHING else that would have killed us. Dinner, no matter WHERE we went was $150 + EVERY night. Lunch at McDonald’s one afternoon was $32. Premium gas was over $6 a gallon.
And this was back in 2011. I can’t imagine what prices over there are now thanks to Sleepy’s “programs”.
That old banyan tree that’s been there for over 150 years was where I sat next to a very large Hawaiian gentleman and purchased my first baggie of Maui Wowie.
We became good friends with a local musician there named Brooks McGuire and still speak to him every now and then to this day after meeting him on our first trip in 2001.
Our hearts go out to the residents and businesses of Lahaina. The rebuild will be brutal and although none of the structures will retain that “old town” history, it is our hope that most, if not all of them can be brought back to life close to what we remember.
GO DODGERS!!!
