Now David Ortiz comes to Tatis' defense. Big Papi was the one who expressed so much disappointment in Manny Ramirez in his positive test. Then it was mentioned Ortiz himself might have been on the Mitchell Report & he shut the fuck up.
He hit .315-38-127 in his last season, at the age of 40.

At 68-56, the San Diego Padres hold a narrow lead for the third and final National League wild-card spot, and they'll have to make their postseason push without star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis was suspended 80 games by MLB after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug earlier this month. He will miss the rest of this season and the postseason.
Tatis spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time since his suspension and apologized to Padres fans, baseball fans, and his family. "There is no one else to blame but myself. I made a mistake," he said.
"I'm truly sorry. I have let so many people down. I have lost so much love from people. I have failed," Tatis continued. "I'm going to remember what this feels like, and I'm not going to put myself in this position ever again. I know I have a lot of love that I have to recover. I have a lot of work to do, it will be a very long process. I'm learning, I'm maturing."
Even prior to the suspension, Tatis had not played this season because of a wrist injury suffered in an offseason motorcycle accident. He was on a minor-league rehab assignment and nearing a return at the time of the suspension. Padres GM AJ Preller said they "need to get to is a point in time where we trust" Tatis and his judgment earlier this month.
Tatis also revealed Tuesday he will have surgery on his troublesome left shoulder while serving his suspension, and will spend the majority of his recovery time in San Diego. Shoulder problems sent him to the injured list three separate times in 2021 and limited him to 130 games. Tatis declined to have surgery last offseason.
The exact nature of the shoulder surgery and the recovery time are unknown at the moment. Tatis will miss the final 48 games this year and the first 32 games next year while serving the suspension, meaning he will have roughly nine months to recover from surgery before he's eligible to play again.
Still only 23, Tatis authored a 282/.364/.611 batting line with an NL-leading 42 home runs a year ago, and finished third in the MVP voting. He is in the second year of his record 14-year, $340 million contract extension.

Padres' Josh Hader: Pelted in non-save situation

Hader gave up six earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one over one-third of an inning in a 15-7 loss to the Royals on Sunday. Hader was recently removed from the closer role in San Diego after he struggled since coming over at the trade deadline. Manager Bob Melvin decided to give Hader a chance to pitch in a lower-leverage situation Sunday, as the Padres were trailing by three runs in the eighth. Hader was promptly tagged for six runs and could only get one out. The poor showing means he likely still has much to figure out before he can return to higher-leverage work.

I love seeing them whine about our “Mickey Mouse” WS win and rings over on Twitter. Yet you KNOW DAMN WELL had they won it all we’d STILL be hearing about how great they were / are. Hell - they threw them a parade that year just for getting into the postseason with a wild card! It’s just sad that we continue to be their daddies and in their heads 24 / 7 / 365. Unless they suddenly turn things around, I bet Soto is back on the market next year or at the very least, signs elsewhere after what is inevitably another down season for the stains. Look for Heder to join Ferris in the next year and a half of rehab from TJ. I was SO happy Friedman didn’t give up the farm for Soto and can’t wait to see the stains return to their rightful throne at the bottom of the NL West. GO DODGERS!!! |

I still think Padres fans are a myth. They lost the Chargers to us. They lost the Clippers to us. Do they still have those road signs of a family running across the street? Like beware of hitting illegals. There are transplanted military veterans there. Who actually grew up in San Diego? You're passing through or retired from somewhere else. If it weren't for Dodgers fans making the trek, there wouldn't be a Padres franchise. Every game there is a home game for the Dodgers.
This isn't the first time Preller has gotten carried away. They invested a bundle in Machado & Tatis. They can't stand each other, & it'll be a while before we know how much the steroids played a role in Tatis' early success.

Right now the Padres are 3.5 games ahead of Milwaukee for the final playoff spot in the NL. Philadelphia has to at least maintain their pace too. But it's possible San Diego misses the postseason. They're 20.5 games behind the Dodgers.
