In his last three appearances, Kenley has pitched a total of 2.0 innings. He's given up 9 hits, 1 a homer, 4 walks, 8 runs (all earned), & recorded 3 strikeouts. They've all resulted in Dodger losses. His ERA is 36.04. His WHIP 6.50.
Oh! 73 pitches thrown to record 6 outs.

As bad as all this is, guaranteed he goes right back to Jansen once a save opportunity arises. He didn't put any blame on Jansen for blowing the game last night, rather blamed Neuse for not stretching. Needs to blame himself for once. He puts a guy in to close who just blew his last two opportunities, including the night before after throwing 30 pitches to lose the game. His pitch count alone should have kept him out of the game last night. Roberts thinks he is protecting Jansen's ego by trotting him out no matter what the situation is, when in reality the opposite is occurring. You really think after 3 blown saves in a row, 2 against the Giants, 8 runs given up, that Jansen has any confidence in himself? As bad as Jansen can be this is really, really bad. He's either hurt or just flat has nothing left. I'm betting on the latter. Trade him, send him down, and send Roberts with him wherever he goes. Send Bellinger's .150 average with them too. OKC or Tulsa would take all 3 in some capacity. Neither of them are up to par on a major league club, especially one trying to get back to the World Series.

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Another blown save Rotowire 5 HRS AGO Jansen (1-4) was tagged with the loss and a blown save Thursday against the Giants after giving up four runs on four hits and two walks through two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two.
Jansen has blown his last three save opportunities and it's safe to wonder whether he will continue to be the Dodgers' closer going forward. He was absolutely woeful Thursday and has been struggling of late, giving up eight runs on nine hits and four walks while fanning just three over his last three outings. Even though he has gone 21-for-26 in save chances this season, the fact that he has blown his last three save opportunities isn't an encouraging sign going forward. Plus, he owns a dreadful 12.71 ERA through seven outings (5.2 innings) this month.

Just saw the MLB-TV breakdown of the Vulture and they were all over it. What he was throwing in 2016 was just nasty, with his cutter and four seamer running between 95 and 97 with movement all over the place.
His current repertoire consists of barely reaching the low 90’s with little to no cut or movement and an 80 mph breaking ball, all of which he has huge problems locating.
They said he has little to zero room for error in pitch location and when he’s missing even by the smallest margin he’s getting jacked - as if we didn’t already know most of this.
Sadder yet is listening to Daisy pronounce that “he’s still our guy” and he’ll continue to be used strictly in the closer role. I’m guessing we can write off back to backs if this is truly the case.
GO DODGERS!!!

Now I get Friedman's hesitancy in paying relievers big.

The Vulture comes in with a four run lead and gives up three in the ninth before recording the final out against the Redlegs, who have exactly ONE bat in their lineup in Joey Votto, who he walked to lead off the inning.
His fastball topped out at 91. His ERA to start the season is 27.00. Looking exactly like he did to start the season last year.
It’ll be interesting to see if he gets it together - he’s probably not going to have four run leads every time out.
Kimbrel wasn’t perfect, but who IS at Coors Field? At least he only gave up a run and when he went back to his gas, which was mid-90’s, Bryant didn’t have a chance.
GO DODGERS!!!

Hey guys.
I was kinda surprised he didn't stick it out with the Dodgers, but a part of me was a little relieved. He actually pitched pretty well last year, but was always worried the he would derail sooner rather than later.

Hey guys. I was kinda surprised he didn't stick it out with the Dodgers, but a part of me was a little relieved. He actually pitched pretty well last year, but was always worried the he would derail sooner rather than later. He blew three (?) saves opening week and then another two or three the week following the All Star break. But he seemed to get himself in and out of trouble nearly every other game and he RARELY had a clean inning that he came in and absolutely shut the opposition down. Sooner or later all of those baserunners are going to come back to haunt you and I see that happening a lot more this year than last. He’s another year older and while only his first game, his fastball looked VERY hittable last night (as the lowly Redlegs showed by nearly batting around in the ninth). Even after Kimbrel gave up the two doubles, I still wasn’t feeling the anxiety I felt just about every time the Vulture came into games last year. I appreciate every thing he did in Dodger blue - but he’s in a downhill portion of his career and despite his success last year, I don’t see the same for him in Atlanta. GO DODGERS!!!
