'On Tuesday, catcher J.T. Realmuto agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Phillies on a five-year deal worth $115.5 million. In doing so, he's made some special history for the position. Realmuto's average annual value of $23.1 million is the highest in baseball history for a catcher contract.'

'For the Phillies, the term “stupid money” has defined their offseason. Coined in November when owner John Middleton said, “We’re going into this [offseason] expecting to spend money, and maybe even be a little bit stupid about it.”

I never understood the big deal with Realmuto. He is a good catcher and all but I would rather have Barnes and Smith at a fraction of the cost.
