So I’m watching the Tar Heels game yesterday afternoon and this “commercial” comes on with all of the ACC coaches speaking and using “key words” that are then highlighted on the screen as they speak.
Words like “diversity”, “unity”, “bigotry”, “oppression”, “racial injustice” - it goes on and on and on. And I’m thinking “just what we need”. A bunch of southern predominantly white men (one black coach out of 15 teams, again, most of which are in southern states) telling me how I should act.
It’s getting pretty obnoxious that this “message” isn’t even subliminal anymore. It’s being forced down our throats by the liberal left media to the point that you literally cannot turn on the television without seeing some type of ad or station break spouting this propaganda.
And then there are of course the obligatory photo ops of the coaches wearing their Marxist BLM T-shirts under their $2,500 Ralph Lauren blazers. And I’m getting a bit sick of it all.
I watch TV and sports to GET AWAY from the daily diatribe and garbage that fills social media like Twitter and Facebook. I don’t need to be told how I should feel and what I should be doing to make this world a better place.
I treat EVERYONE with the same respect that I receive. I recycle. I take short showers. I have a programmable energy efficient furnace and appliances. I’m doing everything I can within my own power to address global warming and other pertinent issues of the times.
I don’t wear a mask, but then again I haven’t been out in contact with the general public (other than vacation) more than a half dozen times or so since March and in those instances when required, I reluctantly donned one to gain entry to businesses that required them.
Not to mention that I already had and beat Covid-19 all the way back in February, before most even knew what it was. The chances of my getting it again and spreading it to others are about the same as winning the Powerball.
I have resisted antagonizing my black neighbors, who are either posting BLM or Biden / Harris signs in their yards with ether a Blue Lives Matter (I have a number of friends and family who are in law enforcement) or Trump / Pence sign.
I respect their rights to support their candidate and causes, but prefer to keep my own private. Not to mention the last time I put a political sign in our yard for Romney, it lasted all of a couple of days before some thugs tore it down and ripped it up, leaving it in pieces all over my yard.
The last thing I need on my Saturday afternoon is a bunch of good old boys telling me how I should act. If I have this to look forward to all season, I guess my TV will start to get some well needed rest ALL weekend as I’ve still yet to see a single minute of the NFL this year.
GO DODGERS!!!
