I'm glad the Dodgers stay away from deals like that. You just know they'll end badly. And that’s very likely why Mookie will be a one and done rental, even if he leads us to that elusive title. Sure - they will make an effort with a decent “per annum”, possibly like they did for Harper with more per year over a shorter term. But I don’t believe for a New York minute they’ll offer him the 10 - 12 year deal he is looking for. And that’s okay by me. With this core they have built and the new kids chomping at the bit, Mookie will be just another cowboy that made a brief stop in SoCal for a cup of coffee.
Let the games begin! GO DODGERS!!! That's the way I think too, but we really don't have any great prospects in the OF. Our highest ranked kid is DJ Peters, #12, and his slash line is .249/.358/.811 and he Ks way too much, even more than Belli in his rookie season. But, we can do another three way trade or sign a FA, which I prefer not to do.

Pollock is about as likely to play a full season without some DL time as I am at 57 years old. But there might be a few “diamonds in the rough” that may develop into front line players or, as you said, free agency is always an option. Our future looks bright, with or without Betts. GO DODGERS!!!

Think of Betts as this year's Jimmy Wynn. What a season we got out of Wynn in 1974. We traded away fan favorite Claude Osteen for him. I think Wynn finished in the top 5 of MVP balloting.
So did Mike Marshall. We traded 3dog for him.

GO DODGERS!!! Don't write Kike off so soon. AS they've said, he fixed a kink in his swing and has hit three homers so far. Sure it's spring, but didn't Cody cut way down on his Ks last year? If the Mook walks next winter, Kike could take over RF if he proves to be good enough. Or, is he better used as a super sub since he can play so many positions?

He’s very versatile but I don’t think he’s suited for everyday play. Remember Cruz? He blew up spring training and was named a starter (not sure what position). Panic and his pops both got matching jerseys and he was back on the bench by around mid-May after barely hitting his weight during his month and a half as an “every day” player. I fear the same for Kiké. He and Chris Taylor are excellent bench “super subs”, as you put it - but I don’t think either of them would be able to sustain the kind of BA we would need as starters. And remember some of those line-ups last year when we had three or four .200 hitters (including the pitchers) all right in a row at 6 - 9? Kiké was usually one of the four. GO DODGERS!!!
