Personally, I think one big reason we didn't sign Anthony Rendon this winter is so there'll be room for our #1 pick last year: Kody Hoese, now our #7 prospect. I remember some of the comments they made about him when he was announced as our pick, and one was that he has great mechanics at bat. I really think our brass is thinking that once Turner retires that Hoese should be ready. He's predicted to be ready by '22, but you never know, it could be next year. His slash line was .299/.483/.863. Not so impressive since they're combined rookie level and low-A, but hey, I remember when Lux was first drafted as our #1 in '16, his slash line was nothing to write home about either, and now he's our starting 2B. I for one will keep close tabs on Hoese this year. There is risk of course, but it's one of those "you never know" things. Remember Mike Piazza was our 62nd round pick!

That's funny how it works because Lux is #1, May #2, Graterol #4, Gonsolin #6 when I believe all those guys will be on the big league roster not only last year but this year. Essentially he should be the #3 prospect behind Ruiz and Gray. I say give him a couple of years to see what he's got. They have Beaty playing 3rd today so if he can duplicate last season he would be a nice fill in and replacement.

Maury Wills sitting with Lasorda. He still looks really healthy. I met him working a bar in Manhattan Beach in 1991. He was on the wagon. Gave me an autographed ball & picture. I still have them.

I'd bet the rotation looks like this to start the season:
1. Kershaw 2. Buehler 3. Price 4. Wood 5. Urias 6. Gonsolin- someone might have a phantom injury during the spring and he steps in.

Jojo Gray is unproven at this point of course, but the Dodger franchise has been best known for great rotations dating back to the late 40s.

Remember all the hootin’ and hollarin’ there was about signing Stanton back when he became a free agent? Missed all but seven games last year and is already expected to start 2020 season on the DL.
Not sure, but also think I remember him missing additional games prior to 2019 since his signing with the Spankees.
Another bullet dodged and missed.
GO DODGERS!!!

I'm glad the Dodgers stay away from deals like that. You just know they'll end badly.

I'm glad the Dodgers stay away from deals like that. You just know they'll end badly. And that’s very likely why Mookie will be a one and done rental, even if he leads us to that elusive title. Sure - they will make an effort with a decent “per annum”, possibly like they did for Harper with more per year over a shorter term. But I don’t believe for a New York minute they’ll offer him the 10 - 12 year deal he is looking for. And that’s okay by me. With this core they have built and the new kids chomping at the bit, Mookie will be just another cowboy that made a brief stop in SoCal for a cup of coffee. Let the games begin! GO DODGERS!!!
