THIS IS NOT THE NBA OR NHL!!! This is Major League Baseball!!! His playoff expansion proposals REEK of additional profits and nothing else. More teams = more jerseys with a new patch on them. Chching!
First jersey I ever purchased was a Rawlings #6 home white Garvey at a place downtown called Koch’s Sporting Goods. Late 70’s - no internet, no mail order.
Just the real handmade and stitched deal. I think it was @ $90, which was a LOT of money for a “t-shirt”, as my grandmother used to refer to it.
From what I have read and seen thus far in 2020, the new Nike jerseys START at @ $400, nearly double that of last years Majestics. Completely absurd.
The wildcard games were bad enough. Now he wants to expand those to include just about half the league and allow the teams with the best records to choose their opponents, among other things.
This isn’t PlayStation. This is the oldest organized game and league. Stop EFFING around with garbage like this and do your damn job. Strip the Asterisks of that unearned title and the Sox as well.
Your legacy should stand for something besides cheating and expanded nets down the baselines, taking the sheer pleasure of watching games up close and at the field level completely away for millions of fans who can actually turn their cell phones off and REALLY watch the games while sitting there.
GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! I'VE HAD IT WITH ALL THESE CHANGES!!! You've seen my statement about what I think of the satanic designated hitter rule, and it remains worse than this bullshit. But honestly, it seems when interleague started, then changes have come fast and almost constant. First it was the wild card, now the double wild card, then home field advantage (it was so much better when the home field alternated from east to west every year), but the baseball honchos are still not happy. There have been more rule changes over the past decade than before 1972. Before the DH, about the only rule change was to outlaw the spitball, or any other doctoring of the ball. I don't like instant replay (it was entertaining when the manager would shout at the umps on nat'l TV), and this new rule that relief pitchers must pitch to a minimum of three hitters. They've doctored the balls and the bats cos "chicks dig the long ball". Well, too bad! Five homers have been hit into the Dodger Stadium parking lot, and two of them were by Willie Stargell but he didn't need any help. Bulldog is right, homers are getting to be ho-hum. I miss other aspects like steals, which we see much less of nowadays. If fans don't like the home run leader's total for the year, too bad! They're homer fans anyhow, not baseball fans! There is only one change I've approved of: expansion. Nothing wrong with adding new teams. I'd add a 4th division. The NL West would be Dodgers, Giants, Padres and D-backs, for starters, and two more teams would be created, making 32 in all. I'm conservative in baseball, politically and in many areas. I TEND not to like change, but there's NOTHING in baseball that's needed to change other than the spitball we talked about above.

I sure do miss stolen bases. The suspense a premier baserunner like Joe Morgan could create just by standing at first. What baseball has effectively done is take a valuable skill set & throw it out the window. What's wrong with putting pressure on the defense? Besides being cheated, the Dodgers lost two World Series in a row because they stood around waiting for homeruns. The episode with Joc Pederson & Jon Lester was ridiculous. I know Roberts can't really feel that way because of the type of player he was. That leaves Friedman as the architect. Of course you want your manager & GM on the same page. But get out of the dugout. You've made Dave a clay pigeon when YOUR philosophy doesn't work out. An added buffer between you & the media. Bellinger should have stolen at LEAST 30 bags last year. Kenley Jansen doesn't even bother holding runners. Defensive indifference. That's annoying. I liked the DH rule at first. Guys like Tony Oliva, Billy Williams & Orlando Cepeda could squeeze out another year or two. But then I saw what it did to Reggie Jackson. Jackson was once an all around player. Billy Martin took to benching him on certain days. By benching I mean DHing. Reggie didn't like it & said so. Said he hit better when playing the field. Okay. Then field better. This isn't rocket surgery.
