Wow! Just wow! One of the best I ever saw in my lifetime - right up there with Bird, Magic, Abdul-Jabar and of course, MJ.
And his 13 year old daughter also taken in this tragedy.
My heart goes out to his family and close friends.
GO DODGERS!!!

I didn't realize how highly thought of Kobe was around the league. Doc Rivers (among others) was choking back tears. His voice was cracking.
Sometimes Bryant's gunning annoyed me. But I still always took Kobe's side in his feud with Shaq. It was easy to see who the worker was among the two. Who do you want with the ball in crunch time? A fouling situation. Shaq clanging the ball off the front of the rim? O'Neal signed off on his own fate by getting fat & lazy. Then he yelled at Dr. Buss to "pay me" when he was already making $20,000,000 a year. Sayonara, big guy.
That rape charge in Colorado was bogus. I've worked for hotels & it was an automatic termination to be caught in a guest's room. You did flight attendants at your own risk. My theory was everything was cool until he flipped her over & stuck an anaconda in her backside.
RIP to the greatest athlete, & most driven Laker the organization ever had.

Either Vanessa Bryant is in trouble financially or she's just a terrible person.
Vanessa Bryant lashes out at mother over lawsuit demanding financial support

Kobe Bryant / City News Service
LOS ANGELES - Kobe Bryant's widow, Vanessa, lashed out Wednesday in response to a lawsuit filed against her by her mother demanding financial support and claiming the late Laker legend had vowed to take care of her financially for life.
In a statement posted online, Vanessa Bryant accused her mother -- Sofia Urbieta Laine -- of trying to "extort a financial windfall from our family." Bryant said she and her husband long supported her, allowing her to live in their properties free of charge.
"She was a grandmother who was supported by me and her son-in-law at my request," Bryant said. "She now wants to back charge me $96 per hour for supposedly working 12 hours a day for 18 years for watching her grandchildren. In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers."
Bryant said she has tried to make peace with her mother to no avail.
"Earlier this year, I was looking for a new home for her and, a week later, she went on television and gave an interview disparaging our family and making false accusations while living rent-free in a gated apartment complex in Newport Coast," she said. "Even after that betrayal, I was willing to provide my mother with monthly support for the rest of her life and that wasn't good enough. She, instead, contacted me through intermediaries -- contrary to what she claims, my phone number hasn't changed -- and demanded $5 million, a house and a Mercedes SUV."
Bryant said she refused, causing her mother to make "false and absurd claims" while demanding "more money than my husband and I ever spent to provide for her while he was alive."
"She has no regard for how this is affecting my children and me," Bryant said. "She wants to live off of my daughters and me for the rest of her life while continuing to collect monthly alimony from her ex-husband since 2004. My husband and I have never discouraged or kept her from providing for herself. This lawsuit is frivolous, disgraceful and unimaginably hurtful. My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy."
Laine filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court.
First reported by People magazine, the lawsuit claims that Laine worked as "a longtime personal assistant and nanny" for her daughter and Kobe Bryant. The suit also claims that Kobe Bryant had "promised to take care of (Laine) for the rest of her life."
"Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant's promises did not see the light of day as he is now deceased, and Vanessa Bryant took each and every step she could to void and cancel all of Kobe Bryant's promises made to (Laine)," according to the suit. "Vanessa Bryant did not intend to honor any of the Bryants' representations, agreements and promises at any stage."
The suit claims Laine, while serving as a nanny for the Bryants, worked around the clock without being afforded meal or rest breaks, while also working holidays and weekends. She also claims Vanessa Bryant forced her out of the home she was living in while Kobe Bryant was alive.
Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed in a January helicopter crash in Calabasas that also claimed the lives of seven other people.

KOBE COP RAP Vanessa Bryant sues LA cops after officers leaked Kobe crash pics – including one deputy who showed them off at a bar

VANESSA Bryant is suing Los Angeles cops after officers allegedly leaked pictures from Kobe Bryant's helicopter crash - including one deputy who showed them off at a bar.
Kobe's widow Vanessa, 37, has alleged that members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department shared unauthorized photographs of the crash on January 26.
The lawsuit - filed on Friday in LA County Superior Court and obtained by PEOPLE - seeks damages for emotional distress and mental anguish.
It comes after the news that eight sheriff’s deputies took photos of Kobe Bryant’s helicopter wreckage after it crashed in Calabasas, California - killing the NBA legend, his daughter and seven others.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva described the pictures as a "punch to the gut," on March 2.
A week prior to that, one of the deputies “tried to impress a girl by showing her the photos," a week after the fiery crash.
Images of the 41-year-old NBA legend and the eight other victims' remains were reportedly shared just two days after the tragedy, sources also told the Los Angeles Times.
According to PEOPLE, the lawsuit claims: "In reality, however, no fewer than eight sheriff’s deputies were at the scene snapping cell-phone photos of the dead children, parents, and coaches.
"As the Department would later admit, there was no investigative purpose for deputies to take pictures at the crash site.
"Rather, the deputies took photos for their own personal purposes."
Vanessa was reportedly horrified and "absolutely devastated" when California cops were accused of showing off horrific photos of the tragedy, which killed nine people.
The claim adds: "Rather than formally investigate the allegations to identify the extent of dissemination and contain the spread of the photos, Department leadership reportedly told deputies that they would face no discipline if they just deleted the photos
It is unknown if the deputies have since been penalized.
“Mrs. Bryant was distressed to learn that the Department did not initiate a formal investigation until after the L.A. Times broke the story on or about February 28, and that the Department had taken few if any steps to contain the spread of the photos," the suit reads.
Vanessa is "deeply worried" the deputies' photos have not been disposed of and that they might reappear - which could lead her daughters "to encounter them on the Internet," the claim states.
Her legal team explained: "The sheriff’s deputies who took and shared the photos are thus liable for negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of Mrs. Bryant’s right to privacy in the death images of her loved ones."
Vanessa's claims come just days after California Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson proposed a law that would forbid unauthorized crime scene photos.
Her lawyer Gary Robb said that Vanessa went to the sheriff's office on the day of the crash, to request that the area "be designated a no-fly zone and protected from photographers."
“This was of critical importance to her as she desired to protect the dignity of all the victims, and their families," Robb revealed.
Vanessa's attorney described the allegations cops shared the photos in a bar as “an unspeakable violation of human decency, respect, and of the privacy rights of the victims and their families."
A month after the fatal crash, and on the day of Kobe's memorial, Vanessa hit a chopper company with a lawsuit for "reckless" flying.
In the lawsuit, she reportedly claimed the helicopter shouldn't have been put in such dangerous conditions before the aircraft's death plunge.
Kobe and his daughter were buried two weeks after they tragically died in a helicopter crash alongside seven others as the group was headed to Kobe's Mamba Sports Academy training facility.
The others killed were college baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri, and their daughter Alyssa, Christina Mauser, a coach at Mamba Sports Academy, passengers Sarah and Payton Chester and pilot Zobayan.

WRONGFUL DEATH Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant sues chopper owner on day of memorial for ‘reckless’ flying after deadly crash

KOBE Bryant's wife Vanessa Bryant has hit a chopper company with a lawsuit for "reckless" flying on the day of his memorial, a month after the deadly crash.
In the lawsuit, Vanessa, 37, reportedly claimed the helicopter shouldn't have been put in such dangerous conditions before the aircraft's death plunge killed Kobe, 41, and their daughter, Gianna.
The 27-count complaint claims Island Express was subject to strict visual flight rules and it alleges weather conditions on the day of the tragedy weren't suitable for flying due to low fog, reports TMZ.
Vanessa smacked the company with the suit on the day of Kobe's memorial today, claiming the pilot, Ara George Zobayan, didn't adequately monitor the weather before takeoff.
It alleges he failed to get weather data, he didn't stop the flight even when he learned of the cloudy conditions, and he failed to abort the flight when he knew of the cloudy conditions.
Her suit cites "negligent conduct," claiming Zobayan failed to maintain control of the helicopter and to avoid "natural obstacles" in the flight path of the chopper.
These court documents allege Island Express engaged in reckless transportation that could have been avoided if the necessary safety measures were taken.
It also notes that Zobayan was disciplined five years ago for violating the visual flight rule minimums when he flew into airspace with bad visibility.
The lawsuit states that the helicopter that plummeted into an Los Angeles hillside was unsafe but according to TMZ, it doesn't specify what exactly was unsafe about the aircraft.
The pilot and flight instructor was certified to fly in special visibility conditions like sub-optimal weather, but investigations are ongoing into why he flew the chopper on a day so foggy, the LAPD’s own choppers were grounded.
It remains unclear what, if any, role the foggy conditions may have played in the crash.
But now, Kobe's grieving widow is asking for punitive damages, claiming both the pilot and the helicopter company Island Express were reckless.
The publication states it's unclear what damages are being sought at this time but the amount could reportedly be millions.
The suit comes after LA Lakers star - an 18-time NBA All-Stars champion - died in the devastating crash on January 26.
Kobe, Gianna, and Zobayan all died alongside Sarah Chester and her teenage daughter, Payton.
Orange Coast College basketball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri, and their teenage daughter Alyssa, were also killed.
A month on from the horrific tragedy, a public service due to be held in Los Angeles will offer fans of the sport and the public a chance to reflect on Bryant's life.
Kobe and Gianna's memorial, aptly titled "A Celebration of Life" will begin at 10am LA time - or 1pm in NYC - on Monday.
He was buried at the Pacific View Memorial Park, close to the couple's home in Orange County, by close friends and family.

You know, the pilot died too Vanessa. Her mom sounds like a real piece of work, demanding this and that simply for being a grandmother. But Vanessa sounds like a greed monger suing anyone and everyone she possibly can. How about a suit against God for the high winds or the city of Los Angeles for the smog? Good Lord - Kobe made 100’s of millions which I’m sure he invested well leaving her and the remaining children with more money than they could ever begin to spend. How much is enough? GO DODGERS!!!

The memorial they had for Kobe at Staples, Vanessa wanted all the tributes. That seemed odd to me at the time. I wonder how much she's sold, or plans on selling.
