We all watched them as kids. What brought this to mind is Pacific Rim being on at the moment, the connection to Japanese monster movies, & those after school Japanese cartoons like Kimba, Speed Racer & Gigantor. But the American cartoons are my favorites by far. The sarcasm was thick. No doubt affected me for the rest of my life.
Fractured Fairy Tales, George of the Jungle, Tom Slick & Super Chicken were really funny. The best were Looney Tunes though & would have me in stitches. Still remember some of the best lines. Daffy Duck & Porky Pig together. Daffy & Bugs. Elmer & Bugs. Foghorn Leghorn. Sylvester & Tweety. I even named one of my cats after Sylvester. Then there were the wordless cartoons of Wily Coyote & the Roadrunner.
Anyone else with favorites or favorite installments of these classic series?

I liked just about anything Hanna-Barbera, especially the Flintstones and Yogi Bear.

I remember my first trip out to SoCal after my paternal grandparents moved out that way in the mid-70’s and being able to watch more than two channels. Where I lived in Cincy, we only had NBC & ABC. No CBS, and even no ABC if it was raining, due to the valley we lived within. Anyways, they had shows like Aquaman and Speed Racer that we had never seen. Also loved watching the old roller derby, especially the women. LA had both men’s and women’s teams. Saturday morning cartoon favs were Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Roadrunner, Scooby & the Banana Splits. GO DODGERS!!!

As an adult no doubt it's been The Simpsons & Family Guy. Those writers are some warped MF's.

Simpsons is still a classic, even though I never watched it regularly; loved Bevis & Butthead when it ran. Not a fan of any other prime time cartoons. Guess there were just too many of them like King of the Hill, Futurama, American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, etc. Just not my cup of tea. GO DODGERS!!!

What does Sylvester say at 54 seconds? I'm telling you those guys got away with murder. Hilarious stuff they did.

My least favourite cartoon commercial has to be the one for Charmin with the parent bears arguing who is going to pick up the kid’s tidy whities laying on the bathroom floor.
Neither of them is wearing underwear and when the kid comes in and starts swinging them around on his paw and singing “his hiney’s clean”, he’s not wearing any underwear either.
The entire commercial is ridiculous. Bears don’t wear underwear and don’t wipe their butts with Charmin.
GO DODGERS!!!

The momma bear was sort of simple & placid. The baby bear was HUGE & definitely stupid. The father & son reminded me of my father & oldest brother. Dad was only 5'-5" & had that impatient thing happening. John was 6'-0" & dumb as a rock. One time when John was about 13 years old Dad tried to show him how our stereo worked. It culminated with Dad snapping - "You put the record on the spindle, put this arm over it, pull this lever, the record automatically drops down, & the needle puts itself on the record. What the fuck is so complicated about this?!" I was maybe eight years old & fell off the sofa, I was laughing so hard. Warners also had Beaky Buzzard.
