baselinetimes.com/matt-kemp-starts-2018-season-dodgers/Hey everyone, glad to see someone took the initiative to start up a new board with the old one closing. The above link is something I wrote up the day before opening day last week about Kemp and his journey since 2014. Kemp's been my 2nd favorite player for a decade (Kershaw's my guy), and having him back has made me incredibly happy. I know he is still likely to be gone at some point during this season, but it's very cool to see him in a Dodger uniform again. I like to write about the Dodgers as well as other baseball stuff at the website Baseline Times, a website a friend of mine started. It's just a hobby to me, but I enjoy sharing it with fellow baseball fans. I liked to share a lot of the things I wrote on the Dodgers.com forums, so if no one has a problem I would like to continue doing so here. I'm making no money from writing or sharing the articles, just in case that aspect would annoy anyone. I'm just a fan of talking baseball, lol. What are people's thoughts on Kemp right now? As you might be able to tell, I am happy to have him back. I think his bat still has plenty left, hitting .301/.349/.536 in his first 498 plate appearances with the Braves, before injuries slowed him down in the middle of last season. His defense is never going to be even average, but the bat should make up for most if not all of the negative value in the field. I would like to see what Toles can do, but I'm good seeing him in AAA working on his on base skills and having some of the best outfield depth in the MLB.

I'm glad to see Matty is starting well. Just checked and he's got a .308 BA and a .879 OPS. Only Yandal has a better BA and only Utley has a better OPS (whoda thunk either of those guys would be leading those categories???).

Looks like he is gaining weight to me. He's not 210 like he was 2 months ago IMO.

Just watched a replay of last nights home run.....I don't see what you're seeing. Still looked pretty fit to me. He does look like he put on a little weight since training camp, looks more bloated but not fat 👀

I dunno, this picture was taking around the time he first arrived at spring training. Doesn’t look much different. Just the hair

He must have fast growing hair then. Lol.
Half an inch a month is average.

Kemp's defense hasn't been much of an issue so far and he can still hit.

Kemp's defense hasn't been much of an issue so far and he can still hit. His defense is shaky at best, and he is hitting. Just a slight correction. He is slooowwww out there. But it is what it is.

Haven't really seen those singles turn into doubles or those doubles turn into triples yet. He's been fine. Really? I've seen it. You're not watching the games then. Dude, he's slow as molasses out there. Just call it like it is. He hasn't killed us out there, but he hasn't been "fine" either.

As of today after 2 weeks, Kemp's dWAR is -0.1. Projects to -1.2 for the season.
In reality, I would actually take that right now.
Range Factor is 1.64, league average is 2.07.
