If an old broken bone suddenly starts to burn? I was warned the ankle I broke in 2017 would develop arthritis. In fact my doctor & I both laughed at the suggestion when I pointed out the ludicrousness of that scenario. But this isn't like arthritic pain. It burns. We never had surgery because I put off reporting the break until it was too late. Now I'm thinking maybe I tweaked it again.
Can't afford time off from work. If I have a stress fracture, we'll have to figure something out. The only other broken bone I've ever had was my right cheekbone. A non-stress bearing bone. Just ignored that till it healed. As a bartender, I'm on my feet too much to ignore this. Unless I just gobble Norcos. Not ideal.

As someone who’s broken more than a few bones over the years, I wish I could give you an answer or solution. But I’ve never experienced any type of burning in any of mine. I’ve had them ache and throb at times, usually when the seasons change, something you obviously don’t have in SoCal. But never a burning. My biggest pain is an almost daily stabbing sensation from my groinal hernia surgery over a decade ago. But from others I know that have had the same procedure, it’s pretty normal and NEVER goes away. And both are easily treatable with a vic or a few bowl hits. GO DODGERS!!!

I'll tell the doc Friday. Hopefully no surgery or screws. It's just an eery pain. Like something isn't right.

I'll tell the doc Friday. Hopefully no surgery or screws. It's just an eery pain. Like something isn't right. And as a bonus, all these broken bones, torn ligaments and other procedures only get worse every trip around the sun. Most of my injuries happened when I was young, stupid and thought to be indestructible. From motocross to skateboarding to the big three (football, basketball and baseball), I did a lot of major damage before I got out of high school. Softball five or six nights a week for two decades resulted in two broken ankles, countless fingers and thumbs and the complete destruction of my ACL & MCL in my left knee. Add to that three broken bones in my back after falling off my moms roof and the previously mentioned hernia and it’s amazing I can even get out of bed every day. To top it off, I slammed my right foot into a door frame yesterday and broke two toes. Most of the time, it’s the pinkie - both of mine have been broken so many times they don’t even resemble a “toe” anymore - just a mangled chunk of meat at the end of each foot. Yesterday’s “feat” resulted in the two next to the pinkie. Both are purple today. You’d think after living in this house for nearly 25 years I’d know the width of the doorways! GO DODGERS!!!

Sorry for all that pain. The stumbling around part is pretty funny though. I ran a 6.0 50 yard dash in junior high. Made me one of the fastest kids at that school. By high school I was running like a - 'clomp-clomp-clomp.' Flat footed. No more on the balls of my feet. One time I ran in my 30's & was surprised at how fast I still was. That was maybe 27 years ago. Now I couldn't run across the street to get out of the way of a plodding bus. Getting old is f'd up.

And I called this morning. They might have that referral ready by the time I see them on Friday. How will doc react when I tell him I can't go in for surgery? Assuming that's the prognosis. More than one doctor has gotten mad at me for ignoring stuff.
Dad ignored a lot of things too. No doubt that's where this comes from. Mom finally talked him into seeing a doctor when he was 78. He came back with emphysema, a heart murmur & prostate cancer. He wound up dying of a liver infection. Mom heard about that until the day he died.

I’ve been hobbling around for three weeks now with a bum ankle and I’m beginning to wonder if there might be something broke or cracked in it.
Was putting up Christmas lights on our blue spruce which is now around nine feet tall. All was good until I had to go to the fifth step on my ladder.
Since the ground was soft from the rain, the ladder started falling toward and into the tree. I knew if I stayed on it, I was probably going to kill or severely damage the spruce.
My decision to jump five feet off the ladder saved the tree, but my left ankle - not so much. I should have wrapped and iced it immediately, but I didn’t really think it was all that bad.
Three weeks later and it’s still the size of a softball. Started wrapping and icing a few days ago, but fear I may need to make a trip to the urgent care for an x-ray or two.
I’m sure that won’t set me back more than a couple g’s, even with my wonderful Obamacare!
GO DODGERS!!!

The saving grace is it can't be a displaced fracture or you would see it. Good luck.
