"And maybe that’s why some of the shorter hitters wonder if they’re here only to smell the flowers."

Me, huh? lol. Jordan Speith, Trevor Immelman, 10 years so what, Tom Kite, Olazabal, plenty of them. They've been saying that about Augusta forever, but short guys do win. That's the point. Length guarantees nothing. Just get there at the end, just like World Series.

Length guarantees nothing. Just get there at the end, just like World Series. They win RARELY at Augusta. like I said, those guys you mention have zero chance of winning. That's 0%. and the course has been lengthened dramatically from the days of kite, olazabel, etc. say more than 1,000 yards. you're making an awful arguement. And spieth had a rep for being an excellent driver of the ball www.golfdigest.com/story/believe-it-or-not-jordan-spieth-is-actually-one-of-the-best-drivers-on-the-pga-tourwww.golfchannel.com/article/john-hawkins/hawks-nest-spieth-has-distance-go-be-great/your insistence on arguing against this this point is embarrassing.

So evidently Sergio's hole WAS a true Tin Cup moment. All of his pitch shots landed on the green and spun back into the water. Ugh.

You and your embarrassing yourself act. smh Argue anything? I posted the old guys scores (Vijay the first post) to show that 50+ guys can still play, and it was for the benefit of posters on this site, I'm guessing half 50+ themselves, yourself included I believe. You for some reason interpreted it to mean I gave those guys a good chance to win. Yeah, right!! I posted probably you were right, the old guys were't gonna win, but to consider Tom Watson pretty much had the Open in his hands at age 60 & on the 72nd/final hole, but he blew it, so who knows. (What'd you think of Watson then, at age 60?? Pretty cool by me.) I wasn't looking for an argument, just stated facts. Said one of those old guys would be on the leaderboard Sunday (looks like Vijay or Freddy at this point). You ignored it though, and dug in. Why I wonder? Who's being argumentative? You post "The Open isn't the Masters, long ball players destroy Augusta, I should know that". I know all of that and a helluva lot more than that. The two easiest majors to win are the Open and the Masters. Both you can get away with hitting it sideways. Can't at the US Open or the PGA. I acknowledged that long drivers have an advantage (at any course), but that a number of shorter hitters have won over the years. Mentioned how Augusta is designed, putting, course knowledge. You basically ignore it all. You're hung up on the "long ball" thing. You come up with "stupid argument and I'll argue anything". It's you that's argumentative, bd. Of course the over 50 crowd has little to no chance win, but Watson proved it could happen, a 50+ can win a major. Jack won at 46. Miguel Angel Jimenez at 50 finished 4th at the Masters. I think it will happen, players stay in better shape, I'd think Tiger and Phil (47) will be playing great at 50. Yeah, the course was lengthened , looks like originally 6,799, now 7,435, or 636 addl yards, not a 1,000+. The shorter hitters have won and will to continue to, someone will get hot, and they all drive the ball long enough, some more than others. As you may know, the course was lengthed because of changes in technology affecting the ball and clubs allowing ALL PLAYERS to hit it longer. Spieth is #78 this week and #76 last year in driving distance on tour. Go Tiger!!! Go Finau!!!
