A thread to discuss the game & ancillary activities. Tonight is the homerun contest. I found this blurb...
'Joc Pederson, Los Angeles Dodgers (20 home runs)
Most would’ve thought that if there were going to be a Dodger in this Derby, it would be Cody Bellinger. Yet, the best player in baseball this season has opted to sit it out favor of his outfield mate.
While Bellinger is known for his majestic shots, Pederson hasn’t hit them all that far nor high this season. What will be interesting to see with Pederson is who ends up throwing to him Monday night—he wanted current Padres hitting coach Johnny Washington, who tossed to Joc in the 2015 Derby, but San Diego has apparently shut that possibility down.'
Freaking petty F's.

You KNOW how they (MLB) love to have home town players in and winning in the finals, based on the last few years. Santana is a pretty good bet to win it all. Joc has ZERO pressure on him and he did very well the last time he was in it. That $250 large MLB-TV is giving away for a perfect bracket (with some tiebreakers, of course) would certainly look mighty fine in our retirement account. Might even allow me to get out in three years at 60. That would be sweet! GO DODGERS!!!

The last time he participated in the homerun contest he went from .230-20-40 in the first half to .178-6-14 in the second half. So far this year he's hitting .239-20-42. Remarkably similar. Cody was right to beg off. I had no idea Jeff Passan was that short. He looks like a midget in there with those other guys.

Good to see the man Frank McCourt sold representing Cleveland.

Little Daddy Vladdy with 8 in the swing-off. Jacques has 60 seconds to tie again.

Acuna & Alonso are well rested. This doesn't seem fair.

Acuna & Alonso are well rested. This doesn't seem fair. The whole thing was totally absurd. Guy hits over 90 HRs?!?!? What was in those baseballs?
That wasn't even baseball, I could barely watch any of it. Wish they would do away with the whole thing.

It will be interesting to see how Joc does the second half. He's the only reason I was watching though.
