Must have lasted about 40 seconds. Felt like a 4.0 or 5.0. That or it's epicenter was right under me.

Guess I'm too used to these. It didn't feel that big.
Large earthquake rattles southern California
Updated 2:33 PM; Today 2:25 PM
One of the strongest earthquakes in California in about 20 years has rattled a large area of the state Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and television news reports.
The quake struck about 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles and had a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 on the national magnitude scale, the Associated Press reported, adding that the temblor was centered near the town of Ridgecrest, California.
The magnitude was reduced slightly, to 6.4, and some aftershocks were being felt in parts of southern California.
CNN is reporting some fires burning in the town of Ridgecrest, but no injuries have been confirmed as of 2:20 p.m., and no major damage has been reported. This is believed to be the strongest quake to hit southern California since 1999.
On Thursday afternoon, as the nation was celebrating the Fourth of July, people from Las Vegas to the Pacific Coast reported feeling a rolling motion and took to social media to report it.
Local emergency agencies also took to social media to ask people to only call 911 for emergencies.
"We are very much aware of the significant earthquake that just occurred in Southern California. Please DO NOT call 9-1-1 unless there are injuries or other dangerous conditions. Don't call for questions please," the LAPD said in a statement published on Twitter.
Ashleigh Chandler, a helicopter rescue EMT at Fort Irwin, California, said the quake happened as she was getting ready for a July 4th party.
"I was just in the living room getting everything ready, we start to feel the shaking, so then I look up and then the wine bottles start rattling and I thought, 'They're going to fall.'
"My sister was in the house and my dog, so we just got everyone outside and then it ended. It was like 15, 20 seconds, maybe. It was pretty good shaking, so I'm out of breath."

Must have lasted about 40 seconds. Felt like a 4.0 or 5.0. That or it's epicenter was right under me. I went through a couple in San Diego back when I was younger and my grandparents lived out that way. Also was at LAX a few years back when a small one or two second one struck. Can’t say that I enjoyed any of them, but at least I didn’t scream like a little girl like I saw Kevin Sorbo (yes - TV’s Hercules) do at the airport. We have our share of nasties here in Cincy - primarily tornadoes. Been through several of those, but escaped with little to no damage at any of the homes I was living at during them. Coolest thing I ever saw was a hurricane that came in from the Gulf of Mexico and hit Destin while we were vacationing there. I stayed up all night on our third floor balcony and just watched it rage and destroy any and everything in its path. Our condo building was solid concrete so I wasn’t a bit scared - totally wicked phenomenon. GO DODGERS!!!
