Since the recent trend is to put your best hitter in the #2 slot, why is Alex Verdugo there? That's not meant an insult to Alex. I really like this kid & he's very good. But shouldn't Bellinger be in that spot? And why is Pederson still leading off when he'll be losing playing time to Pollock after the All-Star break? Joc has great power numbers, but a low OB% & batting average. He's not particularly fast either.
When Pollock & Seager come back (& I realize Dave will still be playing the platoon game despite our lefthanded hitters raking southpaws), this might be a better lineup.
1 - Verdugo - L - LF 2 - Bellinger - L - RF 3 - Turner - R - 3B 4 - Muncy - L - 1B 5 - Seager - L - SS 6 - Pollock - R - CF 7 - Hernandez - R - 2B 8 - Catcher 9 - Pitcher
There will be plenty of opportunities for Freese & Taylor in backup roles because of Dave's penchant for giving players days off, & just generally overmanaging. I realize it creates a bit of a hole at the bottom of the lineup, but we'll see what Pollock is made of, & Kiké has a flair for the dramatic. He had a pinch hit three run homer just last night.
Our hitting behind the plate could be helped with the insertion of Smith over one of the other two.

Smith P--- Can you imagine a lineup where Seager and Muncy bat 6th and 7th, yikes!

I do get what you are saying about teams putting their best hitter 2nd though.
