Yeah I guess you guys are right. I just don't like the fact that the triple crown includes RBI, a stat partially outside of the players control. When I made that comment I was thinking of all those times we face left handers that we see Kiké leading off with his abysmal OBP.

Over the course of a long season, every player in the lineup comes to bat with runners on base. Lots of RBIs mean to a large extent the hitter is clutch. Hence the sabermetric stat "productive outs". Hitters who have lots of those generally have lots of RBIs also.

I’d say the exception being when our genius manager elects to bat Kiké seventh, followed by Barnes / J, the pitcher and then Joc at lead-off. Not a lot of RBI opportunities there, no matter how you slice it. GO DODGERS!!!

Yeah I admit it. I'm a homer. Looking at some numbers, Josh Bell had left less men on base, had a higher BA and SLG with runners on, and hit better WRISP than Cody. But I still don't like the RBI stat in principle, especially when Cody is not in the lead. 😜

Joc has a poor batting average and strikes out a lot. Kike besides hitting Bumgarner well has been a tremendous disappointment offensively. I tend to think that if Joc is traded we'll see Kike and the likes batting leadoff. I don't like it but DDF perplexes me at times.

Agreed. Some guys have a knack for getting it done when it matters. Those guys usually get the most chances with guys on base but there is a reason for it.
RBIs are not a tell all stat but they are still quite meaningful to me anyway.

Joc's OBP leading off is .341, and he has been extremely productive there. What's the problem?
Kike is another story. He's going backwards.

The problem is that Joc isn't a very good leadoff hitter period.

I'd like to see Beaty leadoff a little. See how he fares. It would be nice to see someone who puts the ball in play a little more up at the top.

He was seemingly coming around right before the hamstring and l really think he came back too soon and will likely do another stint on the IL before the end of the season. He just hasn’t looked right since coming back and we’re none too familiar with hamstring issues having both Kemp and Puig. I’d rather see him sit and get well now than continue to play at whatever percent he is. Dude is a gamer, for sure. But if he’s still suffering from that injury, he needs to take a seat and give it time to FULLY heal. GO DODGERS!!!

I'm no doctor but when I had a hamstring issue it I felt that thing for like 8 months. Those things don't heal that fast.

Next year, maybe Gavin Lux will be our leadoff hitter, as he now is at AAA, with Vergudo batting 2nd: Lux 2B Verdugo LF Turner 3B Bellinger RF Muncy 1B Seagar SS Pollock CF Ruiz/Smith C I'm not worried about Seagar. He's snapping out of it now.

Says you?
He seems to be pretty productive there to me.
