Minus the two way performance? Both immensely talented. Both psyched themselves out. The first one I remember was Steve Blass of the Pirates. He was a postseason hero too.

Not sure Kelly’s problems are in his head. I just think the guy SUCKS, has ALWAYS sucked and will continue to SUCK, blowing at least another half dozen games or more this year. One decent postseason does not erase the fact that he was a FOUR ERA pitcher in the AL and it takes more than a 99 mph fastball to get major league players out these days. Especially when 3/4 of them are being thrown in the dirt or to the backstop. But you know our boy Doc. He’ll continue to run his ass out there in close games after he throws a few stellar innings with five to nine run leads and we’ll once again get what we got last night. And he’ll continue to overuse Jansen for multi-inning saves so that come October, he’ll be as spent as a Kardashian Platinum AMEX. GO DODGERS!!!

I wonder if they might consider a parking lot bonfire for all of the unwanted bobbleheads, like they did in Detroit (?) for all those nasty disco records?
Would probably lead to an out of hand rager and the use of those water drop planes normally reserved for wildfires.
Maybe offer them to the Crips and Bloods so they have something to shoot at besides each other.
GO DODGERS!!!

Pass them out for free. I had F Troop in high school. Academic probation. Our coach was really apathetic about us. We'd sit in the bleachers until he finally showed up with a canvas bag full of balls. He'd have us run a lap & then dump the balls out on the field. Football, basketball, softball, etc. Take your pick. I'm outta here. The Shoreline Crips had a strong presence at Venice High. There was a group of them to my right & a couple rows back. Somehow I got to chirping with one of them. I'm nothing if not a natural born smart-ass. So this kid is losing badly. His friends are snickering at him. Finally he pops up, throws his arms back & puffs out his chest. "I'm a Crip!" I gave it a respectful few seconds to sink in & then gave him a very polite gold clap. Like congratulations. Your mother must be so proud. His buddies busted out laughing at him. But I still got along way better with V-13 & the Crips than the Culver City Boyz. Those were some chickenshit bastards. Give them Joe Kelly bobbleheads on top of a beanie. Maybe someone gets a two-fer.

Joe Kelly since May 4th:
12 appearances 12 IP 7 H 10 BB - Ugh! 3 ER 2.25 ERA 1.41 WHIP
Still don't trust him but he has been better. Just cut down the walks!

I’d bet at least half of those appearances came with the team up by at least four or five runs, though. He had three or four such appearances just over the last week. I know he threw a scoreless inning the other night in a close / tied game, but those have been few and far between for this guy and in more cases than not, he’s been lit up like a Christmas tree in those situations. I don’t trust him for a New York minute late in a close game. GO DODGERS!!!

Yes, some of them were in blowouts.
Have to start someplace though.

Kelly hung in there after the Charlie Brown play. That's a good sign.

Joe Kelly has been much better lately. Don't remember if I read or heard it on a telecast but regardless I heard he has cut his pitch repertoire to his two seam fastball and his curveball. He also did something similar during the playoffs last year. I haven't posted since spring training but this team appears to be the best Dodgers team I can remember seeing. Hopefully Joe can keep up what he has shown recently because he could be a weapon come playoff time if he is truly fixed.

I think his worst pitch is his 100 mph 4 seam fastball cause it is so straight. I don't know why he just didn't stick with what worked for him in the post season last year to begin with.
