Charlie is OK, certainly more interesting than the late Jerry Doggett was. But I"ll tell you a play by play man who really annoys me with his home run calls: the White Sox guy whose name escapes me: "gonna put it on the board... YES!!! YES!!!" |

I liked Ross because I swear he was drunk just about every time. Nuxhall here in Cincy was hitting the cold drafts fairly heavily by mid-game towards his later years and would think every crack of the bat was going out. More than a few barely left the infield. And who could forget old Harry Carey’s love of Budweisers? I remember a game we were watching with friends while vacationing down in Florida. We’d been drinking all day ourselves, but Harry had us laughing SO hard my one buds pissed himself. “Sosa spelled backwards is Asos”. Kept calling Bret Boone “Bert”. Stuff like that. I think I mentioned it here before - but there’s a shown on IFC called “Brockmeier” with Hank Azaria about a drunk, washed up play by play announcer that loses it while on the air. It just wrapped its third season and I think it was limited to only eight 1/2 hour episodes each year. Brilliant and laugh out loud funny. Would be a quick “binge” and I believe all three seasons are available On Demand. GO DODGERS!!! |
