Julio Urias Investigation
'No Intent to Injure'
5/16/2019 12:40 AM PDT
Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports ... the domestic violence case against Dodgers star pitcher Julio Urias is "weak" based on the evidence.
We're told the video of the incident does show Urias making physical contact with the woman during the March 13 altercation in the Beverly Center parking lot -- but as one source puts it, "It doesn't appear there's criminal intent to injure her."
One source says it appears Urias used his hands in an attempt to stop her from leaving the area during a heated argument.
In other words, it seems as though he was trying to restrain her, not strike her ... though the woman DID go to the ground at some point during the argument.
We're not trying to minimize the seriousness of the situation -- but rather, this is what we're being told by people who are involved in the case.
We're told both parties have been very cooperative with investigators and are telling consistent stories about what happened.
Urias was arrested for misdemeanor battery and spent the night in jail. He was released Tuesday morning on $20,000 bond.
Major League Baseball has placed Urias on administrative leave while they gather evidence.

Where and when have we seen / heard this before? A nightclub in Miami? A video that disappeared? A nice little cheque to someone? Sounds like Urias might be back in uniform sooner than later. GO DODGERS!!!

That video of Rodney King, we only got to see about six seconds of it. One day when I was watching the news, I saw what happened before the beating, when he was on the ground. He was jumping around, attacking the officers, being high as a kite on whatever. But the press didn't want the public to see that! This stupid incident will prove to be, as Shakespear said, "much ado about nothing", and it'll be forgotten sooner than later and yet, Julio will be back in the blue.

Who got a cheque and how many zeros were on it? Pretty amazing how this “incident” has all but disappeared off the radar and media. I haven’t seen or read word one about it since his reinstatement.
I still think he’s in the Dodger doghouse, though as I can only remember him making one appearance (earlier this week against the Mutts) since being permitted to rejoin the team.
I just hope they don’t let the kid linger and lament too long. He was one of the untouchables in a number of trade rumors and after all those deals that might have been made with him, they simply cannot continue to ignore Julio.
If LA / management is unhappy or uncomfortable with him continuing to be on the roster, I’m fairly certain there are a plethora of teams that would be interested in a young future star with a near 100 mph fastball.
GO DODGERS!!!

No charges will be filed against Julio; ordered to attend 52 week counseling and not have any other “incidents” during that time.
MLB could still penalize Urias with game(s) suspension, fines or both. But will they? Good money is on “no”.
GO DODGERS!!!

I hope part of his punishment was not to get beaten up by opposing batters.

Well, the whip has come down - 20 day suspension for Julio. September return. MLB making an example that THEIR policies will be enforced regardless of court or legal findings.
GO DODGERS!!!

Just yesterday a co-worker & I speculated on this after I said you can pretty much date his pitching like crap & falling out of the starting rotation picture to this incident. Now, how will the fans react?

Now, how will the fans react? All will be forgotten and forgiven if, and at this point that’s a pretty big IF, he makes the postseason roster and performs up to his potential and expectations. If not, he might find himself in another uniform next season. That would be a damn shame, considering the number of trades we passed on in order to keep him in blue. GO DODGERS!!!

He's probably not going anywhere for a long time, at least that is the hope.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Could be starting option in October
Rotowire 1D ago
Urias will work on building endurance during the remainder of his 20-game suspension in order to potentially start games in October, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Urias was suspended for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy on Saturday, though he was credited for the five games he previously served while on administrative leave. The 23-year-old has started six games and functioned as a long reliever for the Dodgers this season, though he has not thrown more than 61 pitches in an outing since April 18.
