I'd still try fliers too. I offered a 50 dollar reward & asked anyone to please return my sick kitty. She needs her insulin. I have been using a flashlight but so far it hasn’t drawn her out. We don’t really have any way of posting flyers in our neighborhood as all of our wiring is underground. I guess I could stuff them in mailboxes, but I truthfully don’t think she got out. In the hundreds of times I’ve been out there since my surgery, she’s never come down or nosed her way out. I’m usually only out there for 10 - 15 seconds and I always check around before going back inside. And if she didnt get out when my mom left the door open, I just don’t see her waking up off my wife and doing so at 2:30 in the morning. My latest thought is she’s under our bed, which is on a pedestal, however, has a drawer in the lower end and on each side there is a pocket / cubbyhole that she could be in either side. The drawer has a catch, so I can’t remove it. But there are only four screws holding the end pieces of each cubbyhole. I’m almost afraid to take the pieces off for what I might find, but I fear I’m going to have to if she doesn’t come out on her own. If she is in either one and is still alive, at the very least she knows I know she might be there. There’s also a fairly large area of the drop ceiling that I cannot access or shine a light into, so she may very well be in there. I’m just hoping she’s being more antisocial than usual. Di has reported their food bowls and litter boxes aren’t showing any signs of significant increase or decrease of usage. I will continue with the updates as they progress. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!! I put the fliers on my neighbor's screen doors. Please do keep us informed.

But most of the mailboxes have those lower openings for ads, fliers, etc. I’ll give her another day or so. I hope and pray for the best, but fear for the worst. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!

I hope and pray for the best, but fear for the worst. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!! Nothing yet? Took the two end pieces off my pedestal bed today hoping she might be in either side but nada. My new fear is she fell somewhere in between the drywall & concrete foundation in our finished basement. It was framed out in 2” x 4” ‘s every four feet so there’s only around 100 of those openings that she could have fallen into. It’s just not logical or probable that she would even go up there again as she was only a kitten the last time she did & I’m not entirely sure she could still make a jump that high (@ 6’) and hit that 4” opening just perfect enough to get thru at her age of ten. If she did and fell thru the openings at the top of the drywall, I guess we’ll start smelling her decomposing sooner than later. It’s been pretty hot here this week. Fliers have been stuffed in every mailbox in our subdivision offering $500 reward for the return of our diabetic cat (I “borrowed” your idea). At the advice of someone Di knows, we put her litter box out on the front porch hoping that might draw her back. Food would be nearly impossible to determine if it was her or any of the gazillion other varmits (bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes, other cats, etc.) were the ones eating it or if it was Harper. I’m very sad. 😢 We have no closure and may never know what happened to her. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!

I would think you would have BEEN smelling the stench if she passed away inside. Your wife didn't notice either an uptick OR decrease in food consumption? That's odd. Would the other cat eat that much to make up? If so, has that cat been puking more than usual?

She said the food consumption has been down and the litter boxes have both shown no signs of usage by Harper, who normally leaves much larger clumps than Izzie.
So it’s pretty clear she hasn’t eaten or used the boxes in several days.
Izzie is the only one who really throws up - Harper NEVER got hairballs and rarely ever barfed.
It’s going to be a pretty sad birthday tomorrow unless by some miracle she comes out from wherever she is.
I’m just afraid that’s not going to happen and we may never find her or know what happened to her. Our basement stays pretty cool year round, so if she is in the ceiling or between the walls, it may take awhile for her to start smelling.
And if that does happen, I’m probably going to have to get some type of infrared device to locate her and get her out.
At this point, I almost hope she DID get out and maybe someone took her in. But she’s SO skiddish around strangers, they’d have had to lure her with food or treats.
We’re truly at our wits end and every day that goes by hope gets a little dimmer. She just turned ten a couple of months ago.

That cat was every bit as loyal as a dog. More so. She was my friend. My neighbor was dating a girl who had a cat. I gave her all of Glory's stuff. A year later, Tessa brought me Sly. Ten years later, I felt bad Sly was all alone when I was out. Working. Whatever. Tessa brought me Sleet. June 22nd, 2022, Sly passed away in the early morning hours. At 9:00 AM, I took his body to the crematory. Then went around the corner to get another cat nobody wanted. Snowball. She's still the sweetheart here. Follows me everywhere. Sleet didn't like her. Until I got Shadow. Then it was like - we have a common enemy. But Snowball & Shadow have bonded. Today I saw Sleet playing with Snowball. You might have some awkward moments if, God forbid, Harper never shows up again & you get another cat. But consider you might be saving that new cat from euthanasia.

I’d like to and have even been looking at the local SPCA pages. I don’t think Di wants to at this point. This will now be the third that we have lost and it doesn’t get any easier each time, especially this one with no closure at this point. We’d almost have to either get a kitten or a cat that had been declawed because Izzie is clawless and most vets don’t or won’t declaw adult cats. We waited nearly five years after Axl passed before getting Harper and it took Izzie awhile to get used to her but she eventually did. Izzie’s 15 now and I’m not sure how she’d react to another adult, but a kitten might be fun for her. Or we may just be a single cat family until Izzie crosses the Rainbow Bridge and then get two new ones at that point. I miss having “my” cat like Murphy was and then Axl became after we got Izzie and she took to Di instead of me. Harper was supposed to be “my” cat, but she never really took to either of us and always seemed to be a little afraid of me - maybe because I was SO big as compared to her and Di. She will still be missed, despite her antisocial nature and attitude most of her time with us. FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!

A small ray of hope - there was a “deposit” in the litter box Di put out in the front porch overnight. Don’t think a stray would use it, not that we have any in the neighborhood.
Leaving the door cracked open (Izzie is in our master bedroom with the door closed so SHE can’t escape).
Harper, if it is her, may not come back in the daylight, but hopefully will after nightfall. I’m already planning on staying up all night just hoping to hear that shrill meow of hers again.
That would be the best birthday present EVER!!!

Day Six and our kitty is still missing. We put some of her blankets that she normally laid on out on the porch this morning.
I stayed up all night with the front door partially cracked open but to no avail. There was also nothing new in the litter box.
At this point, we can only hope that she’ll come back when SHE’S ready to or if someone has taken her in, it’s a good home.
And if she prefers being out there on her own, we hope she’s happy and doesn’t become a victim to cars or another animal.
If she’s somewhere still in this house and has passed, we hope she didn’t suffer and went without pain.
But my heart is still broken.

We have a below ground concrete basement foundation. I’ve looked under both of our decks every day. I still don’t think she got out; but if she is somewhere in the house, she’s probably passed. Food, water & litter boxes are only looking like Izzie is using them. If she’s still alive, she’s found the best hiding place EVER! FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!
