This little guy is stuck to me. He just won't let go. I've taken to giving them all smorgasbords. A little of this. A little of that. So far there's been no puking. I guess each cat eats what they want. And they want a lot. Best fed cats on the block. Harper just came in to see me in my office. She’s not very social, doesn’t like to be picked up or held and only gets in lap time when she’s cold. She went into one of her rapid fire sneeze fits, something she has done since we first got her as a kitten. She’ll rattle off 10 - 15 in a row, sometimes so violent she actually leaves the ground. I feel so bad for her when it happens and can’t imagine just how painful it is for her. But our vet has told us she just has allergies just like us and there’s not a whole lot that we can do for her other than let her “sneeze it out”. I used to have REALLY bad allergies and hayfever as a kid. Had to get a shot and take pills daily. But I pretty much outgrew them and now only get the sneezies when the pollen count is high, like this past weekend. GO DODGERS!!! Shadow's breath is so bad I wash my hands after playing with him. I'm hoping that's not a serious dental problem. Petco had something. It was like 15 dollars. So I got treats that were supposed to help. I work three times this week. I'll go back & give that other stuff a look.

I thinks it’s due not only to the food they eat (ours have always eaten dry - the few times we tried soft or canned, they wouldn’t touch it, thank God - that shit REALLY stinks!). They also spend a good deal of their time cleaning themselves, which includes their own exit chutes. Nothing nastier than that! Murphy was and Izzie is hysterical when they clean down there because once they both stop, they’d look up and their mouths would be hanging open wide as if they knew how stinky it was. I never saw Axl make that face and Harper doesn’t either. Of course, Izzie cleans Harper there most of the time so there’s that. GO DODGERS!!!

I thought that too. What was the SPCA feeing this poor little guy? But it's still there.

I still can't believe how much Jethro eats. He looks bigger just from a couple weeks ago.
Read somewhere that the SPCA kills over half a million cats a year. Tessa got me Mama Cat - Sleet. I got Snowball from the pound after Sly passed. Got Shadow from the SPCA. Those cats were marked for death.
Snowball has become a sort of mediator. She plays with Shadow. Touches noses with Sleet. Eats off the same plate as Sleet. Walks away when Mama gets snippy with Jethro. I've yet to see Jethro show any ill will towards anyone.
He makes strange sounds when playing that I can't quite describe. The people at the pound mentioned that to me before I even brought him home. It's glee. But indescribable glee.

Jethro done et TWO plates of food today. I think this goat will eat any amount of vittles put in front of him. I'm waiting to see if he pukes.
He & Snowball were chasing each other this morning. It looked like Jethro might be picking on Snowball. He's gotten a lot bigger. I laughed at Snowball.
"This is the exact same thing you used to do to Mama."
Then Snowball started chasing Shadow.
When I woke up, Mama was on my lap, Jethro was at my ankles, & Snowball was laying on top of the couch where we all sacked out.
Looks like the little dude is finally getting accepted.

Soot ate lunch on the porch today. He came in & saw Shadow, growled & walked back out. He's a good little guy. It's just couldn't work between us. He's not mine. He would insist on going out & getting torn up. Now he's seen his replacement. I'll still leave food out for him.

Playing with Shadow is like sticking your arm in a bag of razor blades & stirring it around.

Woke up this morning to a century old picture of my grandfather ripped in half.
"Shadow!"
He cowered in a corner of the kitchen. Sleet didn't. Snowball didn't. Just Shadow. He knew he had screwed up big time. But I couldn't help feeling bad that he was so scared. What kind of life did this little guy have before me?
Took it to a photo restoration shop. 80 dollars. That's IF it can be restored. They'll call me later. When their head honcho gets in. It was on a countertop & inside a cardboard frame. The thought of him doing that never even crossed my mind. I'm going to have to get some frames. A lot of frames.

Sandy had another litter of kittens.
SLUT!!
Seriously, seems to be the same father. They're a couple. She had them in the exact same place. Under the house. These kittens look like her. So cute. Camouflage colored. Soot doesn't bother them. He's a nice little guy.
So many cats to feed. Jethro is enough already.

It’s ALWAYS a fun time trying to wrangle them into their carriers. Harper lost almost four pounds from last year and that put Di into a major frenzy. She’s only ten (Izzie is 15 and was only down an ounce). So they ran blood tests and the results came back as normal. She’s been eating and getting treats a couple of times a day, so the weight loss was a mystery. Then yesterday, Di found a mound of cat poo on one of the blankets on our sectional. It was fairly substantial and very hard and she’s never gone outside of the litter box before. So we’ve concluded that she was just a little “backed up” and are hopeful that she’ll put a few pounds back on. She’s been getting extra treats and Di even bought a small bag of Temptations food to mix in with her usual Cat Chow. She seems okay, but we’re going to keep a close eye on her for the next few weeks. GO DODGERS!!!

Oh yeah - $320 for that little visit, including a new “service charge” of $12 for using a credit card.
Saw this little “addition” at a pizza place we went to a couple of months ago.
What a bullshit way to wrangle a few more bucks out of customers without their knowledge or any notification.
We have not been back to this restaurant and next year I’ll give Di the checkbook for the vet.
GO DODGERS!!!

That stereo place I took my late father-in-law's old stereo to said they accept credit cards too. He started to tell me of another customer like me & it occurred to me he was describing a drug dealer. HA-HA-HA!! But most people use cards for everything. Cash is going the way of the Dodo Bird.

Not if businesses like this continue to pass their costs onto the customer. It is common knowledge that most credit card companies charge 1 - 2% to their vendors (I think AMEX might even be higher). But if they’re going to pass those on to consumers without advising them, people are going to start getting pretty pissed off and will either discontinue going to those places or go back to paying cash. And in both cases, there was ZERO notification or signage advising of these “additional” charges. It just showed up at the bottom of the bill. I should have said something at the restaurant and either made them refund it or credit the entire bill as I had the cash to pay for it. But with the vet, Di was pretty much stuck with the charge as they expect payment at the time of service. Either that, or we may have to find a new vet which sucks because we’ve been going to this one for the 33 years we’ve been married. We did actually try another vet just up the street a number of years ago. But even though it was only a minute or two away and the facilities LOOKED clean, the smell of pet urine was almost unbearable so that was our one and only visit there. There is another vet even closer that’s been in business since as long as I can remember. Maybe we’ll try them out next year. GO DODGERS!!!

I haven't seen the ladies in a couple of hours. Shadow sort of got shell shocked for a bit. He was circling in the kitchen. Now it's quieting down & he's laying next to me on the couch.
Smoke & Sandy must be with their kids under the house.

Smoke & Sandy must be with their kids under the house. Our neighborhood fireworks were fairly subdued this year which was good for our two as well as the doggies next door. Didn’t hear too many tonight - but we went to Hooters and didn’t get back in until around 11:00. Harper stayed up in one of the bedrooms. Izzie was out in the enclosure last night before we went out and someone fired off a fairly loud one which made her jump and run into the house. They are funny little creatures. GO DODGERS!!!
