I always use this liquor store. ktla.com/2019/01/26/lawndale-man-shot-to-death-in-hawthorne/A couple days ago I noticed a sidewalk memorial. Figured someone got run over by a motorist making a fast right turn off Prairie. Guess not. He was shot. What for I have no idea. Some homeless guy was talking smack about me when I pulled into the lot today. No doubt he just forgot I've given him money before. One time I just handed him a beer. I'll be sure to remind him next time. You want money, don't talk shit. But I'm like 50 First Dates since the brain hemorrhage. Thing is I'm apologetic about it. Someone orders a drink & tips me $5.00. That's to remember him. For the life of me I can't remember what he was drinking the next time up. They get mad, I point to the scar on my right cheek & say I didn't get this shaving. Sorry. This guy was talking about me because he couldn't recall a benefactor. That's rude & just bad business. But what is wrong with people that they'll just gun someone down in cold blood, in front of witnesses? There had to be witnesses because those guys are always out there. It's beyond callousness & enters the realm of stupidity. Every time something like this happens we come closer to the government taking ordinary citizens guns away. Criminals will always have guns because that's their business. Breaking the law. But ordinary schmucks like me will be unarmed if they invade my home. RIP, Floss.

Just came from there again. Most of those guys out front are really nice. I was wearing a red Tony Gonzalez Kansas City Chiefs jersey, red sweatshirt underneath, & red Adidas with white stripes. An older guy told me to - "be careful out there."
"Huh? I'm on my way to Compton." I had to get an estimate on some body work. Both Hawthorne & Compton are Crip territory. I also like to push the envelope. Although most cops aren't on my Christmas list, I get along with them because I know what's good for me. Kill an old white guy for wearing his team's colors & see what happens to you.
When I was a bartender at The 352 Club (years & years ago) a couple Crips came in & for some reason were giving me a hard time. I put up with it for a while, then leaned in close enough for them to hear & no one else. Far enough away for me to pull back.
"What confuses me about you two is which one is the pitcher & which is the catcher?"
Whoa! Were they mad. Homophobes. I had them escorted out. Give me a rash of shit will you. One of my bodyguards comes back in & asks if I called them f*gs.
"What?" I really hadn't. I used a baseball euphemism. He just smiled. He knew what I had done.
Just an adrenaline junkie.

Those guys at S & P are okay. Just came from there & I was buzzed. They gave me credit for the Chiefs having a good year & one guy picked up $10.00 I dropped.
"This is yours'."
Awww. Thanks.

Bought a beer for a guy in the parking lot.
"Not on the premises."
He thanked me & wandered off to a very nearby house. I knew he was waiting for me to leave & he would go right back.
Oh well.

Man Charged With Killing Child's Mother In Hawthorne He's accused of killing the mother of his child during a custody exchange outside the Hawthorne Police Department.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – A man who is accused of fatally shooting the mother of his child during a custody exchange outside the Hawthorne police station was charged Tuesday with capital murder.
Jacob Ryan Munn, 30, of Hawthorne was set to be arraigned this afternoon at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles on the murder charge stemming from Sunday's shooting death of Brenda Renteria, 28, of Simi Valley.
The murder charge includes the special circumstance allegation of murder while lying in wait, along with an allegation that he used a shotgun, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against Munn, who is also charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He has a 2008 conviction for robbery, according to the criminal complaint.
Renteria was shot about 6 p.m. Sunday during the exchange outside the Hawthorne police station at 12501 S. Hawthorne Blvd.
"One of our officers was inside and rushed outside when he heard the gunfire," Lt. Gary Tomatani told City News Service. "Witnesses told the officer that the man who shot the woman was fleeing the scene. That's when an officer-involved-shooting took place."
The suspect was not hit by the gunfire, authorities said.
Police tracked his car to the area of 133rd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard outside a Denny's restaurant where it was abandoned, Tomatani said. Officers – assisted by SWAT and K-9 teams and colleagues from the Torrance, Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica police departments – then set up a perimeter and brought in police dogs to look for the suspect, who was arrested nearly three hours later in the 4400 block of 134th Street.
The 17-month-old child involved in the custody exchange was safe and in police hands after the shooting, police said.
