Hope I'm not in trouble. I've been written up before for not clocking out in time for a break. I was eight minutes late again last night. There were extenuating circumstances this time though.
Two separate parties. One on the ground floor. The second in the basement. The guests for the first party arrived a bit late. I'm normally scheduled two hours before the startup time. Yesterday it was 2:00 PM for 3:00 PM. There was no chance for a break beforehand.
At 6:30, other employees arrived to help me move downstairs. It was so hectic the dishwasher tipped the beer cooler over. I hit the brakes upon seeing that mess & two wine glasses slid off the bar & into the broken beer bottles. A third one slid off in an elevator. Oh, fuck me!
When I got downstairs that event was already underway. "Can I just get..." Well, as long as you preface it with 'just,' what can I say? I literally couldn't get away to clock out until it was eight minutes too late.
I left a note in the cash register asking my supervisor to not write me up for being late clocking out for a break I never got. The inference is clear. It's illegal forcing me to clock out for a nonexistent break. I'm a team player & never complain about not getting a break. Writing me up for it though would be chickenshit.
My boss & I have been getting along quite well lately, & I would truly hate taking him down to human resources. I've seen the way he reacts to that kind of stuff. Just fix it so that isn't necessary. I don't care how he fixes it. He would leave me no choice if I were to get suspended.
The assholes from the first party (who didn't want to let me go) tipped out $40.00. The old people from the second party tipped out $53.00 on about $250.00 in sales. The first group can blow me. Don't add insult to injury by punishing me when we both damn well know I didn't get a break. The Hilton did that to me & I made them cut a check on my way out the door. Their human resources director got fired too.

I know quite a few, including my mom, mother-in-law, aunts (one of which is a millionaire) and uncle who NEVER throw down much more than 10%. I’ll never understand how people can be so cheap. I don’t think I’ve ever left less than 20%, even if the service or food sucked. And that goes all the way back to when I was young and working fast food. I guess I got that from my CA grandparents who, while millionaires themselves, always taught me the value of the dollar as well as taking care of the people that take care of you. Whether a bartender, waiter / waitress or their own domestic staff - they made sure they and their efforts were appreciated. GO DODGERS!!!

Just found out there's going to be a New Years party to work. Thank God. Normally we don't get those, & so far tonight's party sucks dog shit through a straw.

Spent the weekend with Koreman & his wife. They stayed at the hotel where I work. Yesterday we went to Santa Monica Pier & then out to dinner. Hope you're okay Evelyn. She took a bad spill walking up a steep hill back to the car.

My brother has moved in. I hadn't seen him in years & didn't recognize him at first. Guess he had problems with his step-daughter. He appeared yesterday on my front door with his stepson. He looks at least ten years older than his actual age & shakes badly between drinks.
Naturally I'm going to help him, but have grown very accustomed to living alone. I'm going to have to think on this.

I drank him under the table tonight. Saw my daughter & grandson in-between. Not sure if she picked up on the urgency. His skin is gray.

Jerry got a Cody Bellinger home jersey. He must be about 5'-10" at age 14. His father is maybe 6'-2". He was drafted by the Montreal Expos. HIS father is a real tool & tried to pull a Ralph Cramden & get rich off his son. The Expos were broke. They offered what they figured his draft slot warranted. His father balked & they said good luck. Jerry ll never looked back. His father had made baseball something to avoid. I hate parents like that.
Tessa & Jerry lll have a pit bull now. Such a sweet dog. Remember when some nuts wanted to put that entire breed to sleep? It's not the dogs. It was their owners. This dog was initially afraid of me. Then we got playful. Huge head & jaws. They have a little yard for him to romp around in. Tessa said animals have always liked me. I can recall only one incident from my childhood where a dog tried to bite me & I'm SURE that mutt was senile. Jerry laughed at that story.
My brother still hasn't moved.

Looks like I might have to take power of attorney. He's not able to manage his affairs right now. Maybe some time in a hospice would be beneficial. I had paramedics pick him up this afternoon. He's in the hospital. He honestly looked like he would die here.

Weird call tonight. My boss & I went through the New Years Eve party details. He seems to be under the impression the ballroom will be cleared by midnight. I don't think so.
I got together with my brother's ex-wife & hopefully we got his situation worked out. I have to get his stepdaughter's address (which right now he's claiming ignorance of), get a notary to the hospital, cancel the debit card he had mailed to that bitch's home, put my brother in a temporary home, take him some spare clothes of mine tomorrow, & I already washed the piss out of his pocket change.
I've often wondered how we grew up in the same house (with him beating on me) & turned out so differently. He looks for women to take advantage of him. I sort of gave up on relationships a long time ago because I couldn't stop taking advantage of women. There had to be at least one altruistic bone in my body.

I don’t know what your boss is smoking, but he’s insane if he thinks a NEW YEAR’S EVE party is going to end at the stroke of midnight. What does he think people are going and paying to be there for? I’m sure your hotel has some time parameters, but that place would be destroyed if patrons were made to leave before or even shortly after ringing in the new year. Sounds like you’ve got your hands full with your bro. Hope that all works out in the new decade. Damn sure never thought I’d see 2020. Gonna try to follow through this year and get back in shape. Even with my build and height, when XXL shirts start getting too small, it’s time to get back to the gym! GO DODGERS!!!

So my brother's 400 lb Jerry Springer reject ex-girlfriend is trying to make off with his severance pay. I was there when she hung up on him after he told her he had had a heart attack. His severance pay went from $5,000 to less than $500.00. She gave explanations that didn't add up. Oh! She only has a check. No stub. Hehe. Oh, my God! The can of worms she opened.
I told his ex-wife to relay Tom is just about jerking off to putting you in jail. My jaws were clinched as I left his room. By the time I reached the elevator an eiry calm had taken over. She wants a fight, eh? I will see your fat ass rot in jail before John gets back MORE than you stole. I'm just about to buy airline tickets & a bag of peanuts to throw at you.

Spent a couple hours devising strategies on how to approach the people who stole from my brother & left him to die. Made up a questionnaire for John. His mind has had time to clear. This can be done in a way they don't see it coming. At least what I'm getting at. Except for Judy. She knows I dislike her. But if she chooses to be uncooperative I'll just report her to the police for senior abuse, grand larceny & bank fraud. It really depends on what I can glean from his former employer. If she lied about how much John got, or what deductions may or may not have been taken, we're having a discussion. The leverage is jail.
Think I know what to do with his stepdaughter too. Finally got her phone number. She texted him a merry Christmas the day before she kidnapped him & left him on my porch. Sweet.

My brother is here with me again. They released him yesterday. Don't know what to do with him while I work tonight.
So far I've already found over $1,300 that his 400 lb girlfriend was holding out on him. She sent a flurry of frantic texts to my brother. He's not getting that phone back because it was those same people who enabled & profited from his behavior. His stepdaughter whined to his daughter that Tom is saying she stole this & that. His ex-wife is using me as a sort of bogeyman to scare these bitches. Tom has taken control now & they'll be hell to pay. I know because his daughter told her mother what the stepdaughter said. I can use that grapevine.
They're giving some of that money back or go to jail. All the same to me.

Just checked my bro into rehab & his ex called & we talked for about an hour. She said they were making "about $900,000 to $1,000,000 a year when we were together." Just about swallowed my tongue. This was the late 1980's, early 1990's. He left his brother Dave in low-income housing? Motherf...
Not to pat myself on the back TOO much, but he's lucky he had me to turn to in his hour of need.
There was a church up the street. I told him to use it.
