As expected, the annual celebration of “music” awards barely recognizes one of the most influential guitarists to ever pick up and play one in a way that no one had ever seen him by placing one of his guitars on stage while showing a six or seven second video behind it.
Not a single word about the man himself. And nearly as objectionable, not even a photo or mention of one of the greatest drummers and lyricists of all time, Neil Peart of Rush.
Yet Kenny Rogers and John Prine both had full song tributes by current “artists”.
Then again, what should we expect from a show that allows a live performance of Wet Ass Pussy on national television?
Think I’ll go read some Dr. Seuss!
GO DODGERS!!!

Was it Rafael Palmeiro one year who won a Gold Glove with just a handful of games at first base? But man! Was he a smooth DH or what?

I got his autograph at Vero Beach one year - didn’t even know who he was at the time, but I saw a bunch of Oriole hat wearing fans all gathered around the first base line and figured it must’ve been one of their marquee players.
Didn’t even realize it was him until I read the signature. Shame roids had to ruin so many players like him, but then again, they all made the choice to use them.

I'm shooting from the hip on this one. But I THINK he had full seasons of something like 8 & 14 homeruns. Then it might have been 1993 where he exploded for 37. Then came the strike, of course. After that he hit in the range of 30-45 every year. C'mon! Owners didn't know? I honestly don't blame most of those players. Say you're a Sammy Sosa or Luis Gonzalez. Do you spend several years clinging to a major league job, only to eventually get cut? Or maybe you can take this stuff & be a superstar, making tens of millions of dollars a year. The owners do the wink-wink, nod-nod thing. ONLY when it became a political issue did they act shocked. We've been used! Sure you have... It was the guys like Bonds & McGwire, &, contradictorily, Gonzalez who pissed me off. Bonds didn't need it. He flaunted it though. McGwire lied. Palmeiro actually shook his finger at Congress. Gonzalez thought he was a Hall of Famer. Remember his brief stint with the Dodgers? Grady Little wanted to rest him. Get some playing time for guys like Kemp & Ethier. Gonzalez thought if he could get to 3,000 hits, he was for sure getting in the Hall. Then he had that incident with Puig. He acted like Puig should know who the great Luis Gonzalez was. Yasiel could barely find his way to the dugout.

I expect to be passed out this time two weeks from now. My niece lives in San Diego and she keeps teasing me by sending me photos of all the “varieties” she can walk into any local store and buy without prescription. Little bitch! 😝😝😝 GO DODGERS!!!

Watching Peter Cetera on Soundstage tonight. Damn, that dude can still sing and hit all the high notes.
All while keeping the hits in their original key, rather than doing them a half or whole step (or more) lower like so many of the 80’s bands that are still playing are doing.
And for a guy in his early-70’s (when this was filmed - he’s 77 now) he looks like he could pass for 30 years younger.
GO DODGERS!!!

Towards the end there they were doing elevator music though. Dialogue was great.

Towards the end there they were doing elevator music though. Dialogue was great. They were (and probably still are) my favourite band growing up. I played trombone in high school and loved ANY band with a horn section including Blood, Sweat and Tears, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc. They truly rocked in their early years and you’ve seen my praise of original guitarist Terry Kath. The things he could do with a Telecaster, Wah Wah pedal and Orange amp back then were truly innovative for the times. Even with the later “elevator” tunes, I was / am still a fan. Saw them twice in the last couple / few years and they STILL put on a helluva three hour show. I wasn’t a huge fan of Jason Scheff, who replaced Cetera. But the dude they have now is so dead on Pete’s voice it’s almost scary. And yeah - Dialogue is a GREAT tune. GO DODGERS!!!
