Whoa...I never knew this stuff was up here on you-tube. Now, this is when radio was an art-form, man this take me back when I first started in radio listing to Huggy Boy, Hunter-Hancock, Magnificent Montague, The Boss with the Hot Sauce!! Good memories... Thanks CK! In the late '90's I'd call into the stations like KLOS and the knockoffs of such "classic rock" stations as them at the time and request songs long after they'd stopped doing requests. I was relentless and eventually they'd play a request of mine, occasionally anyway. I was a PITA, meh, I had a point to make. lolol I'd talk with the DJ and bring up stations like KPPC, KMET, KLOS from early '70's mentioning ALL genres (rock, R&B, blues, country, etc. ) were played back then together, not some idiotic play list some marketing type/computer based on "ratings" and demographics would pump out. The DJ's I'd talk to all had history from the earlier era, all missed it as much as me and you. You are right, it was a true ART FORM. Smashed. Too bad. Yeah, radio has become institutionalized and compartmentalized as people at the top and who control the biz these days, want people who listen to be categorize into demographics as to focus target and market to them as this info is shared with advertisers to make a determination of what music to play. What they call "Oldies" stations are in my opinion, hurt the worst - as their playlist is extremely limited, and that is from personal experience as former Jock, as my last station I worked at was considered "Oldies" with scant 200 - 300 songs in consistent rotation at most when there are so many good songs that go unheard. Seeing an industry deteriorate from the greatness and prestige it once was, when I going to broadcasting school in late 50's while I was still in high school working in record store and playing a gig or two, to an industry that is barely recognizable today, a shadow of what it used to be that has become sterilized and homogenized...But, it is one of the main reasons that "sports talk radio" is so popular, as a lot of those old jocks re-imaged their career to fit that narrative so, there is glint of a "silver lining" for them! Mr. Dynamite - I Got You I feel GoodJB doing the "Mashed the Potatoes" like no else could and yours truly was there!

Mr. Freddie King, Going Down, the best version imo. Freddie King outstanding guitar player and BB The Beale street Blues Boy I'm glad I got a chance to see these guys - The Whisky, where epicenter of music for us - I can't even begin to tell you how many people I've seen at the place like the; "That Band from Venice" The Doors, Temptations, Otis Redding...good lord...and the Trip that little yellow building next to the old Playboy building (can't believe there's an H&M there now) saw every one from the Byrds to Jackie Wilson... and the Troubadour, Pandora's Box which is now a cross section and so on... - The real funny thing is, I thought nothing of it -back then-, but when I think about it now, it is actually mind numbing - man, I miss old LA and the Strip! Secret Wish - would be to go-back in time with a HD Camera crew and film these acts! Pure Rock and Roll - Straight from the Tap!

Gonna have to dust that DVD off and turn on the 15 speaker surround sound - and SOON!!! Maybe do a back to back with it and another fav of mine, "Empire Records". Or do the "drive-in" triple feature, ending the night with "Used Cars". Sounds like my Saturday night is SET!!!

You can hear that old time Rk n Rl in the warmup. It's that up tempo Boogie Woogie man... and I love playing that piano, it's like train leaving the station, picking up steam chugging along..I remember going to see "The Girl Can't Help it" not for Jayne Mansfield, but to see "Little Richard" and later would see him in person in club in Norwalk! John Lennon was the consciousness of the Beatles, and a prolific son of a gun - Just listen to cutting edge; "Rubber-Soul" and "Revolver" which, in my opinion, are both the same LP - Parts 1 and 2, and if I had to rank Beatles albums, they'd be a the top of the heap!
