Somebody on the other board prompted the question about who would be the team's "surprise" player this, a la Taylor was last year's and Turner was a few years back.
Thought I'd resurrect the question here, given the talent and expectations of this 2018 team.
My candidates:
- Toles
- Kemp
- Pederson
- Forsythe
Maybe you could add the catching trio of Gandal, Barnes, and Farmer, too...
And of course there's Verdugo in AAA... Perhaps another Bellinger?
Sorry, no pitchers on my list. I'm looking for the guy who surprises with his bat.
If I had to pick one, it might be Toles. I think Farmer is in the mix too, but that depends on how much playing time he's going to get.
Who will it be?

Toles seems like a good guess. He definitely has some talent, would love to see him go to the next level.

I'm concerned that the surprises this year might be Bellinger and Taylor not tearing things up again. They now have some serious expectations on them, compared to pretty much zero last year. The weight of those expectations can be a killer.
