Personally, I think that they were smart not to sign Patrick Corbin. He is a decent pitcher but Washington apparently bid against themselves. Darvish money for Corbin is insane to even consider. AJ Pollock is a solid player but he is also gonna demand money he aint worth. He is pretty much Chris Taylor who is still very affordable. Not to familiar with their farm system but a quick glace suggest that they are really not all that ready to plug the holes with internal options.
Now to the trade of Goldie. Man that is one guy I am happy is leaving the division. They guy used to punish the Dodgers and was a big game changer. I really don't think the Snakes got anything great in return but things are getting interesting in the central. Does this mean the Cubs become major players for guys like Machado or Harper? What will the Brew Crew do? The west has gotten weaker. The east will be alot more competitive and the Central is starting to warm up. Stay tuned.

The Cubs could use Machado because Addison Russell is regressing. Their projected opening day payroll is 182 million dollars right now. Not sure who else they might be looking at. It sure is nice to have a stud like Seager as our shortstop. Easy to take him for granted.

Russell is also due for disciplinary action. With the Cards getting Goldie, I think this forces the Cubs to do something dumb.
