Red Sox fan Josh Davis was stabbed five times, allegedly by Dodgers fans, after Boston won the World Series.
A Boston Red Sox fan who lives in Los Angeles woke up the day after his favorite team won the World Series in a situation much different than he expected: He was in the hospital, many of his teeth missing, with a fractured nose and five stab wounds.
Josh Davis, 36, says he was attacked by a group of Los Angeles Dodgers fans Sunday night, following the Red Sox’s World Series win at Dodger Stadium. He’s in stable condition and recovering, but it’s an incident that brings to mind the brutal attack of Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was savagely beaten in 2011 at Dodger Stadium and now lives with brain damage. The key difference: The attack on Davis didn’t happen at the stadium.
Davis, who is from Massachusetts but now lives in L.A., isn’t in nearly that bad condition. He said he was walking home in Koreatown on Sunday night wearing his Red Sox gear when he was confronted by two men in Dodgers gear. Davis alleges they said to him, “Get your [expletive] out of here, this is Dodger country right here.” Davis says he believes they stabbed him with a screwdriver.
He further told Boston’s NECN:
“It should never come to beating the crap out of people, you know what I mean?” Davis said. “I got a lot of Dodger fan friends … I’m not going to let one bad apple ruin it for me … or 10.”
On Wednesday afternoon, Davis posted an update to his Facebook page that said:
Thank you all for keeping me in your prayers. sorry I haven’t responded back to most of you guys, just taking it easy right now. I’ll be in touch to thank each and everyone of you. One thing I have learned from this is to not indulge in trash talk with people u don’t know! After getting into a brawl with two Dudes the third one whistled for more help, in the blink of an eye I was surrounded by a large group of them and started to fear for my life and just started going Tanzanian devil after they started striking me. I wanted to keep this private at first due to them stealing my phone and wallet because they have a lot of my information! Now I’m hoping justice is served after the investigation.
LAPD is investigating the case as assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, NECN reports, because Davis’ phone and wallet were also stolen. No arrests have been made yet.

Senseless. I didn’t see one Sox fan going out of their way to “rub it in” or get in anyone’s business. They cheered when their team did good, just like we do in other stadiums.
All that I talked to and congratulated were gracious and thanked me and said they were looking forward to a rematch next year and that they felt we had a very strong team with a continued bright future.
Thugs are gonna be everywhere and I’m thankful this guy has the sense to know these few don’t represent the entire LA fan base.
GO DODGERS!!!

A personal choice. But no one should be punished with a stabbing for showing their allegiance. I don't know what's happened to my home town.

Wore away jersey to Milwaukee playoff game - most were pretty cool - had a couple of obnoxious jeers, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Of course I ALWAYS wear the blue to games here in Cincy as there’s usually more of us than Reds fans, especially with as bad as they have been the last decade or so. Never had any problems here but then again, not too many people are going to mess with me at 6’ 3” and a solid 265. 😆

You can bet that Giant fans are dancing in the streets over this tragedy. When we had the MLB forums, there were 4 or 5 of them who had a great time labeling Dodger fans thugs over the Brian Stow incident.

You can bet that Giant fans are dancing in the streets over this tragedy. When we had the MLB forums, there were 4 or 5 of them who had a great time labeling Dodger fans thugs over the Brian Stow incident. No doubt. There was one so low he actually tried to pass off one of the guys who ran away as a relative. He said this relative had been injured in the attack. Maybe when he was running away & turning a 4 to 2 Giants fan advantage into a 2 to 1 massacre by Norwood & Sanchez. The entire next day this alleged victimized relative was in the hospital, his grandfather (whatever he claimed to be) was on that MLB board calling us all out for being the thugs we are. I told him go be with your grandson (whatever). Don't waste your time with bloggers on the internet, who had nothing to do with it. Be with him. He flat out refused. Ray joined in & we both exposed him for the fraud he was / is. He was capitalizing on someone's misfortune. That takes a pretty sick mind. Another one would more subtly remind us what barbarians we were. But he kept spelling the victim's name wrong. Maybe it was the shock. Bryan Stowe, Brian Stow. Never Bryan Stow. So emotional carpetbagging vulture #2. Lord knows the Bay Area has more than had it's share of violence at sporting events. It still stuns me to hear people are willing to go this far just to be assholes. These aren't fans. They aren't representative of any sector of the Dodger fan base. It's about colors to them & someone wearing the 'wrong' colors on their turf. Anaheim fans for the longest considered themselves above dirty Los Angeles. Good luck with that. I was at a freeway series with a friend of mine who jumped ship to the Halos when the Dodgers broke up that old infield. I went to the 1983 ALCS with him. I grew up on the Angels too. They grabbed a 2-0 lead in that series. My friend was giddy. I told him to wait. You'll see. They lost the next three. But one guy at a concession stand said, with his running mate alongside, that I was wearing the wrong colors. I smiled & told him these are ALWAYS the right colors. He just nodded his head, like - 'right answer.' Many times situations can be defused by not showing fear or disrespect. We shouldn't be obligated to do that to avoid being stabbed though. I hope they catch these schmucks & lock them up with the first two. Put them in the idiot wing.

Didn't have an issue in Boston either. A couple jerks but it was very mild. I was a little nervous with my whole fam there but in reality there was nothing to worry about.

Having my daughter with me always helps. No one wants to be the one who beat up the hot girl's dad. You're not scoring any points with her that way. I got into a fight with a one time buddy & Tessa threw him out. She may only be 5'-4" & 125 lbs, but I put her through karate lessons. Next thing he knew all 230 lbs of him was laying on the pavement.

My name is Tom, Dave. I never took you seriously because you're a coward. I would never blame all the fruits in San Francisco if one of my relatives got high & obnoxious in foreign territory. I would also want to be with them. Being with them is way more important than blaming anonymous geeks on the internet. They had nothing to do with my 'grandson' getting hit while running away.
I also offered to meet you at the Wells Fargo in Inglewood. It's five minutes from where I live. You declined. You appeared on our visitors list every morning after that. Posts & threads disappeared. You bragged on the Giants' board about that. Congratulations on being a shit kicking coward. Kudos to the shit kicking cowards you recruited.

Wow. I was really lit last night. Hehe. A little background for those who weren't paying that close attention to either the Stow incident or Giants' fans reactions on our old board.
There was a video on youtube that I believe the Stow family had taken down. It showed a father with his family. He was vociferously telling Stow to tone it down. There are children present. Stow had been on a drunken rampage. Lot of profanities. Stow had a record for cocaine, alcohol & domestic abuse. His friends shouldn't have let him drink. That's not to excuse Norwood & Sanchez. What they did was deplorable. They're in jail for it. At the time, Stow acted innocent in front of the father. As soon as the guy left he started back up again. Do you think in retrospect Bryan wished he had listened to that concerned father?
How do four guys walking to their car get jumped by two guys? OF COURSE some ran away.
Immediately the trolls appeared on our board. Dave was chief among them. All day & into the next several he lambasted us for the savages we are. I honestly told him to go be with your relative. What are you doing here? Most of us were on the message board at the time this happened. Dave told Ray he could get his grandson's name from the police report. Ray pointed out the police weren't releasing details yet. Oops!
By now I'm getting impatient with these guys. I told Dave his grandson had to be one of the 'friends' of Stow who ran away. Dave threatened to beat me up. I later found out he was in his 70's. What 70 year old does that? Grow up. He then offered to bet me something like $5,000 that it was his grandson. I'm not betting on the internet. He said he would meet me at a Wells Fargo in Riverside. Why would I drive all the way out to Riverside? This is YOUR deal not mine. But if you really want to meet me so badly we could hook up at the Wells Fargo on Market St. in Inglewood. He refused. That told me in no uncertain terms that kid wasn't his grandson. He was inviting me on a wild goose chase or ambush. Maybe he coaxes me into a smaller bet. It would have been easy money for him if that truly was his grandson. The ONLY motivation left then is to make a fool out of me for driving 130 miles roundtrip, or get beat up myself by some younger guys Dave sent. You really don't think much of me, do you?
Later he tried to guilt trip me by saying his grandson had an allergic reaction to some peanuts mistakenly put in his salad. He's dead. How do you feel about that?
"Wow! A Giants fan dies choking on a nut. Who could have predicted that?" I felt bad for the kid who died. I still strongly suspect he wasn't Dave's grandson though. I'm not homophobic either. But if they want to stereotype at as gangbanging goons, then okay. You must be gay. That's the San Fran stereotype. How do you like it?
Dave appeared on our visitors list for years after that. He bragged on the Giants board about getting posts & threads taken down. One Giants poster told these guys he wished they would knock it off. It's inviting retribution. Thank you.
I'm sure Dave is gone now. RIP, Dave. I hope you finally found the peace you were looking for.

I'm sure Dave is gone now. RIP, Dave. I hope you finally found the peace you were looking for. I remember it all too well. It’s funny about an old man trying to pick a fight as we have a coot in our neighborhood who did the same thing with me. A few years ago, the home next door to us was undergoing a major rehab; dumpster in the driveway, different vehicles there and parked in front every day. This went on all summer and into the late fall. One day, after the work had been completed, I noticed this old beat up pickup truck parked in the space between our & the rehab house. It hadn’t been moved for weeks, so I assumed one of the workers there just abandoned it. Called the local law enforcement; as they were putting a notice on it, this crazy old man comes running up the street from his home. I go outside and he starts yelling & cursing at me. I’m like - hey, I didn’t KNOW this was your POS, but why the hell are you parking it in front of MY house instead of your own or in your EMPTY driveway? Turns out he didn’t want the turd “distracting his Christmas lights and display”, which gets more gaudy and overdone each year. As ridiculous as that answer was, I’m still asking why he can’t parked it either on his own or further up on the other side of the rehab house where nobody parks or would care. Doesn’t want to piss off his neighbors on his OWN street and wants to be able to keep an eye on it so nobody vandalizes it so our spot is his choice. As if anyone would vandalize a 20 + year old rusted out Ford Ranger. So we go round & round with this clown & cops say there’s nothing they can do. Our solution is to park one of our own vehicles there whenever he moves but that gets tiring plus we have to leave ours out in the elements, etc. The next year, same shit and we play the “parking game” most of the holiday season. Third year, I walk down to his house, hoping to talk to the dude. He opens the door with hostility and a line of profanities that would make Richard Pryor blush. Then he goes over the line - tells me to get off his property or he’s gonna “mess me up”. I just laughed and said c’mon, old man - I’m standing right here (all 6’ 3” and 250) - bring it! He quickly retreated back into his house and hasn’t parked in front of ours again since. What a dickwad! GO DODGERS!!!

So then it was okay to make your house curb appeal less aesthetically pleasing but not his? Interesting theory he has going there.
I have some neighbors over here I jokingly refer to as the Addams Family of our block. For about 20 years an elderly couple lived there. But first she passed away & then him. The duplex was sold & a peculiar group moved in. The first day I caught two of them prowling my property. They said someone had stolen their trash cans. Well, mine had the address painted on & are pretty beat up. Your cans aren't here.
After that they had some old man who sounds like the cat lady from the Simpsons. Just yelling & incoherent. It's nice of them to take care of their relative like that. Nope. He wasn't their relative. They must be caregivers. No idea how much they're paid to do this stuff. It might have helped them buy that house. The loons stay in one unit. The somewhat 'norms' stay in the other.
They finally got tired of that old guy themselves. Now we have a new screamer. Envy me?

Uh - no. We’ve been in our home since 1996; 36 payments left on it. Actually would have been paid for by now, but @ 7 years ago we re-fied for another 10 after putting @ $60k into new bath, kitchen, floors, roof, HVAC & finished basement. Everybody in our subdivision hates that dude and you gotta love that logic of the senile old coot. Neighbor to our left probably the best & sweetest one we’ve ever had anywhere. Lived there before we moved in. Spends half her year with family & friends down south. Her son & I look after the place when she’s gone. On the other side, that house changes ownership more often than I change the oil in my car. All have been decent but they just don’t seem to stay very long. One guy had five kids & a bun in the oven when they moved in. It’s a 4BR, but small and I knew they wouldn’t last. Dude drops $25k to put in a pool and then moves the next year. Pools are a hard sell in this neighborhood / city. Had a young couple there (fireman & nurse) with two kids for awhile. Mom was a TOTAL MILF & 16 year old daughter had way too many pool parties with her friends - my grass those summers looked like it was cut by Ray Charles. But they split up and moved. Thinks there’s been at least five or six other residents there since we’ve lived here. GO DODGERS!!!
