Trey Turner to the IL with a hamstring. That ain’t good for a SS that has to cover the amount of infield they do.
Madres trade for yet ANOTHER high end player Arraez from the lowly Fish.
How’s that been working out for them the last few years. All the big names and bats (and egos to go with them) and still looking up at their daddies in the OC.
They put the “dis” in disfunctional.
GO DODGERS!!!

Cody picked up on that late hot streak after coming off IL. He had a 4 hit game last night. 2 doubles & a homerun. 7 for his last 13.
Overall, .268-7-19 / .345 / .536 in 25 games. Good for a 147 OPS+.

And Pepperman on the IL with a line drive on the calf. Luckily for him, the ball hit the fleshy part, so there's no fracture. He's supposed to be back by the end of this month.

Our old friends Maeda and Fruit Salad joined the walking wounded IL’s yesterday as well. Seems to be a pattern with pitchers this year. 100 mph fastballs are taking their toll. Was talking to a dude Friday night about Greg Maddux and how he never threw much more than low 90’s, but was still one of the best of our era. Probably one of the last guys that actually “PITCHED” rather than throw. He showed me a stat that he only went to a 3 - 0 count 177 times in his entire career (not including 133 intentional walks). Dude faced nearly 20,500 AB’s. That’s freaking unbelievable and unheard of these days. GO DODGERS!!!

He said it's not so much velo, but it's the way they train. Pitchers used to cross train which explains why they got hurt much less often.

Another old friend, Flea Market Ferguson, served up a grand slam today. I was watching the Yanks and Rays and the Yanks were cruising with a 6-0 lead till the 7th. Imagine what Yank fans are saying about him on their forum. "send him back to the Dodgers!" No thanks, we have a surplus of great relievers.

Tyler Anderson has bounced back big time after his disastrous debut in Anaheim last year. He's 5-4 / 2.52 ERA & 1.06 WHIP in 10 starts. He's averaging better than 6.1 innings a start.
Good for him.

THat's nice, but the Angels pitching is ranked 28th and one great starter is far from enough. Gone are the days of arguably the best 1-2 punch in a rotation in the bigs: Nolan Ryan and Frank Tanana.

Our old buddy Dr. Pepper (now with the Rays) revealed he was bitten by a spider which caused his knee to swell up the size of a softball making it difficult to even walk, let alone pitch.
Currently working his way back from the IL.
Some of those spiders are downright nasty. One bit one of our kitties and our vet basically had to cut and debrief the area around her anus, leaving it looking like someone had used a belt sander on her rear side.
The wound had to be left open to air and heal and we had to clean it several times a day with cool water, which as most people know, cats LOVE (NOT)!

I heard he had a knee infection but didn't hear it was a spider. In that part of the country, it was probably a brown recluse spider, Their bites are really nasty. With that luck, he might as well still be a Dodger. Dusty May had a freak accident of his own a couple weeks ago, an esophagus infection. I'm so sorry about your cat.

Yep - we have them here in the Midwest as well and that’s what bit our kitty. She looked AWFUL for several weeks but it was amazing to watch her heal herself and now you can’t even see any evidence of it ever happening. FIRE DAVE ROBERTS!!!

Our old friend Corey Seager just broke up the Asshoes Valdez’ no hitter with two outs in the ninth with a shot to the bleachers that not only killed the nono, but also tied the game at two.

James Paxton to IL with strained calf. That pretty much covers the Dodgers ENTIRE rotation going / being on the IL this year.
Might be time to clean house with their medical and conditioning staff.

Our old buddy Matt Kemp was on the MLB channel yesterday and today. He sounded off against the pitch clock as we all have, and so many players today. But Manjerk wants to "speed up the game", so he imposes that rule and also instant replay which really delays the game.
Kemp also doesn't approve of closers trying to K every batter. In his day, pitchers just tried to make batters hit grounders. IT was great hearing his commentary. If the injury bug hadn't bitten him after his career '11 season when he very nearly won the triple crown, he'd be one of the greatest Dodgers ever. I still have his jersey, which I bought at the stadium for about $24 I think.

It probably is, looking from that very narrow standpoint. But then hitting philosophy has changed. When they were playing shifts, you had guys like Max Muncy flat out refusing to take what the defense gave him. That would get you benched in the old days. You're not Ted Williams. Two strikes & you choked up a little. You didn't swing the same 0-2 that you might 2-0. That's a major reason there were fewer strikeouts. No. For every reason they may cite as to why the game is tougher now, two can be cited as reasons why it isn't.
