This 26 yr old kid can hit his @ss off, arguably one off the top all-around hitters in baseball. Average, power, walks, consistent, etc. I know this FO is trying to stay under the cap, but HEY WE'RE the DODGERS, revenue out the kazoo!
I'd say about 40% casue of cap & he's from east coast, but who knows he may have fallen in love with a great city?
I know we have a solid infield with exception of 2B, but that could change if the blue re-signs Manny? Depending on Seager's ability to throw next year (not sure if it's easier to throw across the diamond from the third or make many different throws from SS? I can only see either Turner playing first base & moving Bellinger to CF or having Justin play 2B with less quickness to reach the normal range others can make?
Dozier is another I'd like to see but obviously we can't have both. I would like to see a line up of.
1. Dozier 2B??? 2. Turner 1B 3. Machado SS 4. Seager 3B 5. Bellinger CF 6. Pederson LF 7. Grandel C 8. Verdugo RF
Yes, as much as I like Puig especially his arm on defense, he still hasn't gotten the approach to being a good hitter. He'll probably be in his 30's before he gets it. The wait should be over, time to move on. The money saved could be helped to re-sign Manny, Dozier would be nice, but we have Taylor & KiKe to save & replace him.
Pitching is another story...

I’d love it if they figured out how to keep Machado. Problem is after seeing how jacked up this club is being ran, shitty lineup’s and all, dude probably can’t wait to get off of this dysfunctional team.
Also Taylor has got to go. 4 strikeouts last night adding to his awesome league record for strikeouts is pathetic. Dude kills any rally we try to get started. Send him down or trade him...

We all like to project 'us' & 'we're' when referring to the Dodgers. Problem is we're NOT the Dodgers. We sure are free with their money though. The real Dodgers started the year with a payroll 21 million dollars higher than the small market New York Yankees. Say we let Puig (7.5 million dollars) walk. He could be replaced with Verdugo. Cool. I'm all for that. Dodgers save 7 million dollars. Then we let Ryu go (7 million dollars). Stripling could take his spot. Maybe another 6 million dollars in savings. We could even bid Grandal adieu (9.7 million dollars). Don't know who we have to replace him right now though. Total savings = 22.7 million dollars. Then Jansen's salary jumps by 8 million dollars next year. Turner's by 7 million. Hill's by 2 million. We'll probably still be stuck with Kemp's contract (21.5 million). What do we do about Kershaw? Although he's pretty obviously in decline, he's still our most reliable starter while he's healthy enough to pitch. Would he take a discounted yearly salary to get an extension? That would work. How much of a raise do you give Bellinger? Wood? Alex may have had a letdown season by our lofty standards. He made 6 million dollars this year though & the system is just wired that someone of his caliber & seniority earns more. We would be brain damaged to let Maeda go in a trade unless he demands it. We've seen how fragile pitchers are & the wisdom of stockpiling arms. If we take Ferguson out of the bullpen to fill a need in the starting rotation in spring, then we don't have the option of shuffling him back & forth. I'm not seeing much of a savings here. Certainly not enough to lock up a player to a Giancarlo Stanton (or worse) type contract while weakening the overall depth of the team. I was awe struck by the acquisition of Machado (which really makes me wonder how anyone could reach the conclusion our front office is poorly run) & like Manny way more than Harper. But Dozier is the more logical re-up. He can he had a lot cheaper & for far less years. Get a capable backup for Seager. We don't need superstars backing up superstars. It's unreal to expect that. Who does it? Oh! But 'we're' the Dodgers...

Verdugo RF SS-- Seager 1B-- Turner/Muncy 3B-- Machado CF-- Bellinger RF-- Kemp 2B-- Kike/LH stick (Daniel Murphy) LF-- Verdugo C--- ??/Barnes Bench: Taylor Toles Joc? Farmer/Locastro Rotation: 1. Kershaw (assuming he opts in) 2. Buehler 3. Wood 4. Maeda 5. Stripling 6. Urias 7. Ferguson 8. Santana 9. Scrap heap pickup or another minor leaguer on an innings limit. I'd would see if we can get something for Joc or Puig or Kemp and Hill.

Cot's has us going all the way down to $131.3 million next year with an expected $205 million luxury tax threshold but as you have said there will be arbitration cases upping the team's payroll. Team is in a really good place going into next year financially in my opinion.

Cots has us going down with some notable subtractions. Like Puig, Grandal, Ryu, Wood, Maeda at his base salary of $3,125,000, Pederson, Fields, Kike, Seager, Bellinger, Taylor, Stripling, Urias, Buehler, Muncy, Verdugo, Ferguson, Santana & Toles.
I see you already went with Barnes over Grandal, & Hernandez over Dozier.

I think Wood, Maeda,Pederson, Kike, Seager, Bellinger, Taylor, Stripling, Urias, Buehler, Muncy, Verdugo, Ferguson, Santana & Toles will require raises and should be kept. The others can be replaced. Yeah, I would be surprised if they bring back Grandal. Barnes hasn't done anything this year to be handed the position so I expect them to bring in a guy for a year or two, probably a switch hitter or LHH that can platoon with him. As for Kike he is phenomenal with the glove and I am one of those that believe he can hit a little better if he gets more at bats. He and Dozier are having similar seasons. *On second thought keep Kemp and trade Puig and use that money towards signing Machado.
