Donnie Baseball took alot of flak from fans and the media for the lineups that he rolled out a few years ago. I like others assumed that he was in fact the man responsible for the lineups and that he alone made all the decisions. funny, now I reading alot of same complaints but this time the blame is on Roberts. Although Roberts has made his fare share of bonehead decisions this year, I don't think that he should blamed for some of these stupid lineups. It has become pretty obvious that he is getting those orders from above. I mean come on.....Taylor is striking out at a record pace, pretty much inherits a 0-2 count every single time he is at the plate and has been ice cold for some time. Why in the world is he still playing? Kike cleanup? Barnes over Grandal? These guys are pretty much automatic outs when penciled into the lineup. Yesterday, the Dodgers had over 80 homeruns sitting on the bench yesterday (Muncy, Grandal, Joc and Puig)....seriously? All those guys were playing very well for long periods of time. their reward, their playing time reduced. Why not play your best team day in and day out? It isn't like the guys you are trotting out there are doing any better. You have an amazing starting lineup with lots of pop yet we are trotting out 4 automatic outs every single day. Who ever is making the lineups is costing the Dodgers the season. Time is running out and yet there is no sense of urgency. With the bullpen having their issues and the insistence on playing Kike,Taylor and Barnes, I really believe that this team is done. Hope I am wrong.

And the CONSTANT “shuffling” of the line-up. I know, I know - the stat geeks look at match-ups against pitchers and who did what against them, but I sure miss the mid-70’s when you went to the park and you pretty much knew the line-up before you even got there.
They might as well just put all the names in a hat and pull out the first eight, which some nights seem like that’s exactly what they have done. Screw all the analytics and play your hot hands. If they cool off, THEN maybe make a change.
The one other thing I’ve noticed is that if I remember correctly, this team went on a bit of a tear right before the All Star break and got themselves into first place for the first time all year.
As good as they are and have previously shown, since the acquisition of Machado and Dozier, LA has played around a mehish .500 ball. That ain’t gonna do it if we’re looking to play in October.
I really expected them to put together a 20 out of 25 run after getting those guys - and they still might. But they’re running out of games to put such a streak together and as much as we hate to admit it, the Snakes and Rox don’t appear to be folding up their tents like they usually do around this time.
GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Remember, we lost five straight, while blowing at least two leads in the 9th. Of all our myriad of injuries this year. Jenson's has hit us the hardest. I didn't realize saving games is so difficult.

One of the toughest positions and jobs in baseball. One or two pitches can cost the team a game (see last night). Guys like Rivera, Gagne, Hoffman, Saito - they’re few and far between.
I like Jansen, but he’s not in their league and may never be. The loss of velocity is concerning, but the movement that he previously had on his fastball doesn’t seem to be what it once was.
It’s what made Rivera virtually unhittable and although there have been comparisons between him and Kenley, I don’t think batters are fearing facing him like they were with Mariano.
A low 90’s hanger with little movement is going to end up over the fence with today’s hitters more often than not, as we all witnessed last night.
Even a journeyman like Mad Max can hit 100+ mph, as we also saw last night. Even in my 40’s, I’d spend time in the cages hitting fastballs before the softball season would start. I always found that if I could time a 90 mph heater, hitting a floating softball would be cake.
And it worked every year and was why I was pretty much the leading hitter on just about every team I played on and over 25 + years, there were a LOT of teams and games.
GO DODGERS!!!

Honestly my feeling is that this team is set up for shuffling of the lineup. So many guys who are good against righties or lefties. Gotta play to the teams stenghths, and the lineup is just fine. Keeping the lineup the same every day would be a disaster. The batting order means nothing to me.
Bullpen killing us day after day. It's getting tiring, there is no reason for it. These guys are better than they are doing right now.

So many hits, so many walks. Can't believe how many get on base. Yet there are many games we score very few runs. Or the BP blows it and we are just a bit short.
Other games we score 11 or 12 it seems.

Other games we score 11 or 12 it seems. They are the true definition of Jekyll and Hyde. They either score at will and in droves or not at all. Bullpen has given away a half dozen plus games in the last couple of weeks. Time to shore things up and put a little run or two together before the fall classic. GO DODGERS!!!

This bullpen stuff is maddening. And RISP too.
