Dodgers' Caleb Ferguson: Gets call to majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Ferguson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
The 21-year-old prospect owns an impressive 1.23 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB across nine starts (44 innings) between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. While nothing has been confirmed at this point, Rob Cervenka of ThinkBlueLA.com reports that Ferguson could step into the Dodgers' rotation to make a spot start Wednesday against the Pirates. Either way, the Dodgers will need to make a pair of corresponding roster moves prior to Tuesday's series opener in order to clear room on their active and 40-man roster for Ferguson.

Looked at his pitch counts, he has maxed out at over 90 pitches twice this year.
He went over 100 4 times last season.

Ferguson is a lefty, listed at 6'3" and 215 pounds.
Report I saw said he throws low 90s with excellent control, and a "stellar" curve in mid 70s. Good change too.

He's young, just 21 years old, and he pitched at Rancho last year. Had some issues with walks last year, but still put up nice numbers..

And the Dodgers scored 2 runs total in the World Series that year against them... 3 of the 4 games were shutouts

Being young & unconscious can be helpful at times.

Share: Twitter Facebook That kid will be a pretty good MLB pitcher, but for now, there's a reason his overall rating is 45, or "fair". He was clearly not ready to face the greatest hitters on the planet, was a bundle of nerves, but now that he's made his debut, it'll be easier for him when he's had enough seasoning.

Yeah, he was obviously very nervous. I felt bad for his parents too, they were struggling right along with him.
I think he will be ok though. He throws hard enough, has a big curve ball and his strength has been his control (most of the time anyway). He was just overwhelmed the other night... At 21 years old, that can happen I guess.

Seemed like he was nervous but has the stuff. I hope to see him again soon. For being the #15 prospect and #5 rated pitcher in the system he is pitching better than White, Alvarez, and May. Hope to see what Santana has too, soon.

Yeah, looked like it. He was impressive to me, he just wasn't up to the moment that day.
