May 31, 2018 10:37 pm Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Start cut short by back tightness by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kershaw exited Thursday's game against the Phillies after five innings due to back tightness, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. He will undergo an MRI on Friday.
Kershaw allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings in his first start back from the disabled list. The final stats looked fine, but Kershaw's fastball was routinely topping out at around 90 mph before he was lifted from the contest after having his back tighten up midway through the contest. Kershaw compared his back injury to the one he suffered in 2017 that caused him to spend some time on the DL, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. He's scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday in Los Angeles to determine the severity of the setback. Consider him questionable heading into his upcoming start Wednesday against the Pirates.

May 31, 2018 5:54 pm Dodgers' Alex Wood: Start pushed to Sunday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Wood will make his next start Sunday against the Rockies, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
With Kenta Maeda (hip) landing on the disabled list, the Dodgers opted to push Wood's start back to Sunday and go with a bullpen day for Friday's series opener in Colorado. Despite the reshuffling, Wood, who owns a 3.75 ERA across 11 starts this season, will still be forced to face a difficult Rockies lineup in hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Buehler goes tomorrow & Wood on Sunday. The Dodgers are off on Monday. Tuesday would be Ross Stripling's scheduled start. I wonder when they plan on using Santana.

June 1, 2018 6:56 pm Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Diagnosed with back strain by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kershaw, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday, was diagnosed with a lower-back strain -- an injury that cost him five weeks in 2017.
While this is not surprising, given that his start was cut short Thursday due to the injury and he was sent for an MRI, it confirms the fear that Kershaw's owners may be without him for another extended period. Brock Stewart and Dennis Santana are short-term options to take Kershaw's rotation spot, and Kenta Maeda (hip) will likely come off the DL in the coming weeks as well.

June 1, 2018 5:46 pm Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Out of Friday's lineup by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Grandal is out of Friday's lineup in Colorado.
He has cooled off a bit, hitting .171/.286/.257 with one home run and 12 strikeouts over his last 10 games (35 at-bats). Austin Barnes will start behind the dish and hit seventh.

June 1, 2018 5:43 pm Dodgers' Cody Bellinger: Out against lefty by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Bellinger Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette against the Rockies.
He is sitting against lefty Tyler Anderson, with Enrique Hernandez getting the start in center field and hitting cleanup. Bellinger has a 95 wRC+ this season against southpaws, but owns a 122 wRC+ for his career against same-handed pitching.

June 1, 2018 5:34 pm Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Recalled from Triple-A by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Stewart was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
This is the fifth time Stewart has been recalled from Triple-A this season -- this time replacing Clayton Kershaw (back) on the active roster. Stewart's last game action was May 28 for the Dodgers, so he could be an option to slot into the rotation while Kershaw is sidelined, or he could simply act as a long reliever. He has a career 4.50 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 65 strikeouts in 76 MLB innings.

June 1, 2018 5:29 pm Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Headed to DL by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kershaw (back) was placed on the disabled list Friday, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
This doesn't come as a surprise, as he underwent an MRI Friday, which signaled that the issue was serious. Given Kershaw's extensive history of back injuries, he should be expected to miss more than the minimum 10 days. Brock Stewart was recalled from Triple-A as a corresponding move.

June 1, 2018 4:10 pm Dodgers' Dennis Santana: To come in out of bullpen Friday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Santana will come out of the bullpen Friday against the Rockies, piggybacking the starter, Scott Alexander, MLB Network Radio reports.
Alexander is the starter, but is not expected to go more than a couple innings, as he is a reliever by trade. Santana, who has been acting as a starter in the upper levels of the minors this season, is the one who could log a starter's workload, meaning he could still be the winning pitcher if he pitches well, despite not starting. Coors Field is not an ideal place to make a big-league debut, so expectations should be tempered, but Santana has mid-rotation upside long term.

If Santana can go 4.0 that would be great. We wouldn't use up our pen.
