They had Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Glenn Beckert, Don Kessinger, Ferguson Jenkins, Bill Hands & Ken Holtzman. I'll always remember Jim Hickman for his offensive explosion in 1970 & Beckert for batting, seemingly out of nowhere, .342 in 1971. They had former Dodger relief pitcher Phil Regan, & submariner Ted Abernathy in their bullpen. Four of those guys made the Hall of Fame. The infamous Leo Durocher was their manager.
Well, somehow they managed to blow that lead & Ernie Banks will forever be remembered for not winning a single postseason game. Never appearing in a postseason game. A cap's tip to former 2 time MVP & Hall of Famer Ernie Banks, for not punching some pond scum reporter out.
'What do you think happened, Ernie?'
