Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Starts and leads off Monday

Pederson went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.

Pederson has been relegated to a pseudo-fourth outfielder role despite center field opening up following Chris Taylor's move to shortstop to fill in for Corey Seager (elbow). Instead, Cody Bellinger has been seeing the majority of starts in center with Max Muncy getting starts at first against righties. The latter has performed adequately in the role, so Pederson will have to improve on his .248/.343/.397 slash line (particularly the slugging percentage portion) if he wants to play himself into a regular role.

Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Allows four runs in start

Stewart allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks across four innings in a no-decision Monday against the Phillies. He struck out five.

Stewart gave up an unearned run on his own wild pitch in the first inning and was tagged for a three-run home run by Cesar Hernandez in the second. He was better over the next couple of frames, but an elevated pitch count factored into his removal before the fifth. Stewart has a 4.61 ERA on the season, but regardless of how he did in this start he seemed set to return to a long relief role when Clayton Kershaw (biceps) returns later this week.

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Strikes out two for 12th save

Jansen struck out two in a scoreless inning of work to earn his 12th save of the season Monday against the Phillies.

Jansen was dominant in this appearance, throwing 12 of 15 pitches for strikes as he mowed down the side in order. He's now gone 11 straight appearances without allowing a run, lowering his ERA to 2.66. Jansen has also converted 10 consecutive save opportunities.

Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Likely moving to bullpen after Monday's start

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged that Stewart would likely transition to a long-relief role following the right-hander's start Monday against the Phillies,

Roberts confirmed over the weekend that Clayton Kershaw (biceps) would return from the 10-day disabled list to start Thursday's series finale against Philadelphia, forcing the Dodgers to drop a starter from their rotation. Despite performing credibly in his first start May 22 against the Rockies while being limited to 63 pitches, Stewart hasn't built up enough cachet to stick in the rotation over Ross Stripling, who has posted a 1.23 ERA and 31:2 K:BB over his last four starts. Once he completes the start Monday, Stewart will likely take a few days to rest before being available out of the bullpen for the Dodgers' weekend series in Colorado.

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Plays long toss

Ryu (groin) played long toss Monday for the first time since landing on the disabled list, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

He also threw on flat ground to a crouched catcher. While it's an encouraging step for Ryu, who has been on the shelf since May 3 with a strained groin, he's still likely to be sidelined until after the All-Star break.

Dodgers' Edward Paredes: Sent back to Triple-A

Paredes was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Paredes will head back to the minors after going unused during his most recent stint with the big club. Yimi Garcia was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding roster move and will take his place in the bullpen, while Paredes will continue to serve as organizational pitching depth in the minors.

He has a 3.55 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 12.2 innings at Triple-A. Garcia gives the Dodgers a fresh arm for the bullpen and will likely be used in mid-to-low leverage situations.

Dodgers' Tom Koehler: Targeting pre-ASG return
