San Diego Padres @ Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday, May 26, 7:10 PM PT , Dodger Stadium TV: MLBN (out-of-market only), SportsNet LA, SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 LA Sports, KTNQ 1020 The Dodgers beat the Padres again last night. This time by a score of 4-1. The Dodgers had only 5 hits. 3 by Matt Kemp. 2 homeruns though. A solo shot by Hernandez & a 3 run dinger by Kemp. Ross Stripling has been a savior for our pitching staff. 6.2 shutout innings, 10 K's & 6 hits allowed. No walks. The Dodgers are now 23-27 / .460 & still just 3.5 games out of 1st place in the NL West. They've won 3 in a row & 7 of their last 8. San Diego drops further into the abyss. Jordan Lyles, RHP Jordan Lyles, last 3 starts 18.0 regular-season innings pitched Wins - 1 Losses - 1 ERA - 2.50 Ks - 20 Lyles gave up a pair of late home runs to mar a solid effort and earn a no-decision in his last outing, but he has posted a 2.50 ERA in three starts. He faced the Dodgers in a relief appearance on April 17, allowing one hit in two innings. www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lylesjo01.shtmlVery good overall record. www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=lylesjo01&year=2018&t=pMy God, but he owns lefthanded hitters. He's been much better at home. www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=lylesjo01&t=p&year=2018I'll cut him some slack & wipe Colorado & Arizona off the boards though. www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/batter_vs_pitcher.cgi?request=1&submitter=1&pitcher=lylesjo01&min_year_game=2011&max_year_game=2018&post=1&opp_id=LAD&bats=any&c1gtlt=gt&c2gtlt=gt&orderby=PA&orderby_dir=desc&orderby_second=Name&orderby_dir_second=ascDodgers lefthanders have owned him. Alex Wood, LHP Alex Wood, last 3 starts 17.0 regular-season innings pitched Wins - 1 Losses - 1 ERA - 2.12 Ks - 13 Wood has pitched much better than his record, but has lacked run support, with career bests in WHIP (1.108) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.67). www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/woodal02.shtmlAlex just can't pitch much better. www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=woodal02&t=p&year=2018On a roll. May 26, 2018 4:53 am Padres' Clayton Richard: Takes sixth loss of season by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Richard (3-6) gave up four runs on four hits in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, striking out four and walking three in six innings.
Richard got beat by the long ball Friday, giving up a three-run homer to Matt Kemp in the first inning, followed by a solo shot from Enrique Hernandez in the third. Richard had thrown three consecutive quality starts prior to this outing, striking out 20 against just one walk across 23.1 innings. While his 4.97 ERA is rather high, the lefty is holding opponents to a decent .266 batting average while sporting a career-best 7.5 K/9. His next start will be against the Marlins at home.

May 25, 2018 8:46 pm Padres' Luis Perdomo: Headed for 7-day DL by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Perdomo (shoulder) will be placed on the disabled list at Triple-A El Paso, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The timing couldn't really be any worse, as Perdomo was seemingly in line to start Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers. San Diego will be forced to go with a bullpen game instead. Perdomo has a 2.81 ERA and 0.94 WHIP over 41.2 innings with El Paso so far this season.

May 26, 2018 4:57 am Dodgers' Matt Kemp: Hits three-run homer Friday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kemp went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Padres.
Kemp's home run -- his sixth on the year -- came off Padres starter Clayton Richard in the first inning. Kemp has had multi-hit performances in four of his last five games, and has brought his slash line to .338/.370/.536 on the year. The 33-year-old has been the second best run-producer in the Dodgers lineup (behind Yasmani Grandal's 28 RBI) and has the fourth highest batting average in the majors.

May 26, 2018 4:55 am Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Notches 11th save Friday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Jansen pitched a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts for the save Friday against the Padres.
Jansen finished off the Padres on 12 pitches (nine strikes) to earn his 11th save of the season. Jansen entered May with a 5.59 ERA and has given up only one run this month to bring it down to 2.78 on the year. The 30-year-old is holding opponents to a .205 batting average while carrying a 25:6 K:BB in 22.2 innings. The last time Jansen blew a save was April 17, and he's gone 9-for-9 since then.

May 26, 2018 4:54 am Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Fans 10 in win Friday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Stripling (2-1) struck out 10 and walked zero in a win over the Padres on Friday, allowing one unearned run on six hits in 6.2 innings.
Over his last four consecutive starts, Stripling has allowed just three earned runs across 22 innings of work, striking out 31 against two walks in that span. He's brought his season ERA down to 1.74 to go along with a 1.19 WHIP and a 50:9 K:BB in 41.1 innings. With the injuries in the Dodgers' rotation, Stripling figures to toe the rubber again in a start at home next week against the Phillies.

May 25, 2018 9:31 pm Dodgers' Alex Wood: Slated to start Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Wood (hamstring) is listed as the Dodgers' probable starter for Saturday's game against the Padres, Ryan Walton of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
A hamstring cramp resulted in Wood departing his last start May 20 against the Nationals after six innings, but the lefty was still credited with a second straight quality start and collected his first win of the season. More importantly, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts clarified after the game that Wood's removal was precautionary, and any follow-up examinations the southpaw may have required revealed that no injury was in play. As a result, Wood shouldn't face any limitations in his return to the bump and should make for a worthy activation in all formats while taking on a slumping Padres offense that has scored four total runs in its last three contests and owns a 26.1 percent team strikeout rate -- the third-worst mark in the majors -- entering Friday's action.

May 25, 2018 7:57 pm Dodgers' Andrew Toles: Still not ready for games by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Toles (hamstring) is probably 7-to-10 days away from playing in games, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Toles recently aggravated his hamstring injury, which first popped up in mid-April, as he attempted to ramp up his activity. If the 26-year-old continues to hit at a torrid pace upon his eventual return to Triple-A Oklahoma City (12-for-28 before the injury), he could force his way back to Los Angeles around the All-Star break.

May 25, 2018 7:35 pm Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Set to throw 60 pitches in sim game by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Kershaw (biceps) will throw four innings or 60 pitches in his simulated game Saturday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
The Dodgers' ace is set for a significant workload in his first exposure to live hitters since landing on the DL. If everything goes smoothly for Kershaw, it seems likely that he will bypass a minor-league rehab assignment and return five days later to start the finale against the Phillies in Los Angeles.

May 25, 2018 7:00 pm Dodgers' Rich Hill: Will throw again Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Hill (finger) will pitch against live hitting Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Hill will likely require around four more weeks until he can get back into a big-league game, but it's positive news that he's been able to continue pitching. He'll have successfully thrown in three out of the last five days -- all with the blister wrapped in medical tape -- following Saturday's session. For what it's worth, Hill said his blister has nearly healed, according to Gurnick, offering hope that he might be able to return sooner than the initial timetable outlined by manager Dave Roberts.

Reds just got out of bases loaded nobody out with a force at the plate & their 5th double play against the Rox. Could move to 2 1/2 with a win tonight. Need this one! GO DODGERS!!!

Gonna take a ninth inning miracle against Brad Hand. Top of the order due up, but this looks like another one to the chin of the pen, although Wood didn’t do himself or the team any favours giving up five runs in just over five innings to one of the worst teams in the league.
Lead off walk to Mads after 0 - 2 count. Never a good thing!
GO DODGERS!!!
